New Firefox beta browser for Windows Mobile coming soon!

We heard about the upcoming Firefox Mozilla Alpha launch earlier and as the Firefox Mobile team mentioned in the very beginning, Firefox Mobile will be definitely released for Windows Mobile as well. So far, everything was theoretical only but now we have the first screenshots of Firefox Mobile, running on a Windows Mobile Professional touchscreen Smartphone.

These screenshots are giving a good impression how the final version of Fennec might look/most likely look like but even more important, the developers managed to run the Acid3 Test with a score of 88/100 - which is impressive for a mobile browser!

Fennec aka Firefox Mobile isn't yet available for public download but a first Alpha is expected to hit the web before end of this year.

If it's better than pie i may well go back to FF3 on the laptop to.

Interestingly acid3 scores opera 9.5 at 59/100 and pie doesn't work at all.

I wonder if it will support firefox add-ons? Now that would be cool!!

I doubt the addins will be supported but at least it gives another alternate browser to Opera.

Which add-ins do you use Jim? I only use Fireftp, and I don't think I'd need that on the mobile.

Interestingly, I've gone back to the IE8 Beta on the desktop, and I'm finding it pretty good.

I've been using FireFTP, also a long time user of reload-every (very useful for eBay) and I've just started using Gmarks as a way of keeping my bookmarks in sync across machines.

I have cut down a bit!

My wife and I are both users of Foxmarks. It would be brilliant if something along those lines could be managed for a mobile version.
