Video review of the Omnia II

msmobiles is reporting a Video Review of the new Samsung Omnia II, as published by an Italian blogging site.

For those that don't remember, the Omnia II is to be a Windows Mobile 6.1 device but with an official Windows Mobile 6.5 update to be made available. It will also sport an AMOLED screen (3.7" 800X400 ), which I can't wait to see, along with the more common aGPS, g-sensor, HSDPA/HSUPA etc. etc. It will also sport a 5MP camera with auto-focus, dual LED flash and all the latest processing malarkey such as face and smile detection and geo-tagging.

It is all lining up to be a cracking device (with no dangling stylus in site!), so get on over and check out the video HERE!

Re: Video review of the Omnia II

just watched the video, shame it was in italian It's looking a nice device and not as big as the tg01. Can't wait to see it go the flesh. I think I might hold out for this device now, as I've been waiting to decide on a new device for months now. Though my orbit 2 is still serving me well

Re: Video review of the Omnia II

Well most of my new device budget has moved sidewards to the HTC Hero so it will be interested if we can organise a few head to head tests!

Re: Video review of the Omnia II

I want to see the Toshiba TG01 head to head against the Omnia II, I need to decide which I might want!

Re: Video review of the Omnia II

If it meets all the implied specs I will definitely go for it.

Problem at the moment is that Samsung show sample specs for Pro and II ... but they chose different specs for each.

It isn't clear if the II has 800Mhz Samsung processor. If it does it should be a stormer. It has fully supported 3D acceleration.

Also ... it shows the pro as having TV-Out ... but not the II.
I've also seen conflicting displays for RAM ... it looks like 256M but may not be.

I've seen several videos ... The interface seems far more complete and fluid that TF3D - more like an even sexier Mobile Shell 3 ... which would be superb. It also seems to have more coverage of the native OS tools than TF3D or Mobile Shell.

The suggestions are a 6.1 release will come out in August with the 6.5 one in September sometime.

It also seems beautifully put together ... far more so than any HTC devices .... to be honest ... having seen many Samsung devices of recent years including the I600 (which I didn't get on with ... had it from work) .... build quality has always been excellent.

Fingers crossed .... and hope it's not a let down.

If it is as appears ... it will make the TP2 seem like it is at least 2 generations old.

Paul.
