Orbit II starting to emerge
Arne over at the unwired has got hold of a pre-production Orbit II and has posted a few first impressions we well as a host of pictures.....
"I had the chance to get my hands on a brand new O2 Xda orbit 2 recently, a GPS-enabled Windows Mobile 6 Professional UMTS/HSDPA smartphone, O2 Germany recently announced. While the device was a preproduction unit, the final device will get some minor chances, I was quite impressed by O2's latest Windows Mobile smartphone which is expected to be released in December.
Based on the HTC Touch Cruise (aka the HTC Polaris), O2 again decided to uses a slightly different, rounder design to better fit in its range of Xda smartphones and the Xda orbit 2 follows the design guidelines of its forerunner - the Xda orbit.
The Xda orbit 2 features Windows Mobile 6 Professional which makes it a touch screen device. It's powered by a Qualcomm MSM7200 CPU at 400 MHz and A-GPS support and features quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE as well as triband UMTS/HSDPA up to 3.6 Mbps, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. Furthermore it sports a FM radio, a 3 megapixel autofocus camera on the back and a front facing VGA camera for video telephony and self portraits. The Xda orbit 2 is backed-up by 128 MB RAM and 256 MB ROM which can be expanded with microSD memory cards.
While the Xda orbit 2 doesn't features a slide-out keyboard, it also features HTC's TouchFLO GUI, like the O2 Xda nova and Xda star as well as a 4-way D-Pad which additionally works as a jog wheel. The trackball, as used for the Xda orbit isn't used anymore.

Re: Orbit II starting to emerge
I actually prefer the HTC version. This one looks too much like the original Orbit, and I'll spare you all my thoughts on that........
