Re: Samsung i900 Omnia
Thanks for that Ravi. Great to hear from someone who has actually had their hands on the thing. Shame to hear it's not upto scratch yet. Most of those issues, though, sound like they could be fixed with a ROM update from Samsung.

Re: Samsung i900 Omnia
Just the sound of the optical Dpad replacement makes me cringe. The funny thing is that Nintendo, Sony, Sega, Microsoft et al have spent literally decades trying to improve on the age old Dpad. I think it's naive of the phone companies to think they can improve on what some of the biggest eletronics companies in the world have failed to do in decades.

Re: Samsung i900 Omnia
Can I just issue a word of warning to anyone who is thinking of buying the 16GB version of the Samsung Omnia?
Samsung are only supplying the 8GB version to the UK retail market. I have just bought a 16GB one in the UK from a reputable online store only to find it's the Singapore south east Asia version. Mine had a major problem and from enquires it would appear Samsung UK are unlikely to honour the warranty. As such, mine is going back for a refund and I will get an 8GB UK spec version.

Re: Samsung i900 Omnia
That's the problem with grey imports. Unfortunately a lot of suppliers, even the big names, often don't publish the fact that the machines are grey imports.

Re: Samsung i900 Omnia
I had heard about another Smasung (can't remember the model number) that comes in 8 and 16GB varieties and the 8GB is exclusive to Carphone Warehouse whilst the 16GB is only available through the networks!
Seems a weird business model!

Re: Samsung i900 Omnia
I've heard that the 16GB models will be exclusive to the networks and the 8GB model will be the only official UK retail version. My Omnia is on it's way back to the retailer allthough the retailer is being a bit obstructive. However my credit card company has said it will do a chargeback so I should be allright. I've now ordered an official UK 8GB one from Clove and if if you visit Tracyamdmatts blog here:
No 16GB Samsung Omnia for the UK?
you can get a code for a 4GB microSD card free!

Re: Samsung i900 Omnia
Yep, 16Gb for networks only and so far I think only Orange are picking it up in the UK.
