That is obviously much too slow.
I tweaked a few settings, but nothing affected video speed.
Seems I am in need of a better plugin for mp4?

I don't have a small .mkv to test matroska speed.
(Not in the mood to copy a 1GB+ file onto the memory card)

Yes, speed could be better still, but at 60% (608 kbit/s / 1.0 Mbit/s) in an animated movie I don't notice any problems. You can also see that the Bond movie is a local file and Star Wars is on the memory card.

As a side note I can also mention that I can't see any text on the buttons! The interface wher there should be text is just grey. Luckily the play/pause/stop buttons are visible. The buttons work just fine, I just can't see what they are.

Interesting results there, and thanks for taking the time to compile them. I am suprised at the speed there too, I would have thought it would have been slightly faster. I take it you tried and ran TCPMP in Raw Framebuffer mode.

We have the same version of TCPMP in the first post of this thread as it does seem to work where other versions fail!

I ran the benchmarks in DirectDraw.
I'll try with RAW too. I tried viewing the movies in raw, but that wasn't any better than DD.

The 72RC1 I have is the 3rd compile, not the 1st compile you have linked in the first post. I haven't tried recomp-01.

It feels like I have suboptimal plugins, but I don't know which one I should replace to improve speeds.

It does seem that compressed files do run slower than they should, I use the opening scene in the movie Batman Begins to bench test (where all the bats fly out as it is graphically challenging!) I Also use a Scooby Doo cartoon to see the other end of the spectrum as this isn't a strain on TCPMP. Both run from the storage card.

These are played back after shrinking the files down with DivX encoder.

i can see the avi file and i have a SRT file with same name and on the same folder as the movie however the player don't show the legend.
Anyone knows to solve the problem??
