Re: Newest 6 Button HTC Home plugin+customisation pack cab files for all devices (14-

This is my first post. First let me say the site is great. Now I have a few questions. This will be the first thing I have done to my new 8525. Do I need to do anything before starting this process. Also do I need to back anything up from my phone. Will all of the programs I have now still be there when this is finished. And last can I choose to go back to the old version If I want to. Thanks

Hi skippy1 and welcome to 4WM

I am glad you enjoy the site, in answer to your questions:-

The only thing you need to do before installing is untick the current HTC home if installed by going to start>settings>personal>today>items and then soft reset. I would advise installing the alternative version in the first post. You do not need to backup anything and nothing will be erased from your device. You can uninstall the program any time you wish in start>settings>system>remove programs, soft reset and then just retick your original version. I hope that helps.

Re: Newest 6 Button HTC Home plugin+customisation pack cab files for all devices (14-

Thanks, Boz for your help in advance. When you say to untick the HTC home I'm not sure what you mean. I went to Start-Settings-personal-Today-Items and all I have is Date,Owner info,Messaging,Get Xpress Mail,Calendar,Device Lock and Tasks ticked. Does that mean I do not have a HTC Home installed and should be able to proceed. Or do I untick all of those and then do a soft reset. Also are you calling the newer version the alternative version. Thanks

Hi

New to the board. How do you minimize the audio player? Someone below your post suggested to press the ok button in the audio player. Well i dont have any ok button, only x (close button). I would like to control the music from today screen.

EDIT: I figured it out. Launch the music player, tap start and tap today, It will minimize all the windows, kind of like show desktop on PC.

Hi Yusuf, Welcome to 4WM.
That X button is NOT a close button, it is a minimize button. If you look at running programs on your device you will find that programs you used the X on are still running in the background.
If you don't like this way of working (and the vast majority of WM users don't seem to) then you need a task manager program to actually close programs and manage the running programs. Some devices arrive with a task manager in the provided software; if yours doesn't then there are lots of free and paid for task managers to choose from.
And the original suggestion to use the OK button probably meant the hard key on the case somewhere at bottom right which is labelled OK.

Hi yusufjee and welcome to the forums.

You could install Schap's configuration tool version 2 in the general forum, it gives you the option to choose your default media player.

Did the registry edit work for you?
