!!! HTC Touch Cube should work on any WM6 device - cabfile !!!

I have found an HTC Touch cube that actually works! It is a cab file installation just install, soft reset and you are done! I have tested this on an HTC Kaiser, HTC Tytn and an HTC Trinity and it worked perfectly on all of them, and I see no reason that it shouldn't work on most QVGA devices running WM6.

Please note you need to have HTC Audio manager installed for the music part of the cube to work before you install the cube, you can download that HERE .

To use the cube just swipe your finger or nail from the bottom to the top of the screen to activate, swipe left or right to spin the cube, and swipe from top to bottom to close it, easy or what!

Please remember that this is an ongoing project and the cube has an expirary set until the end of the year, but the developers are getting back to me regarding the removal of this, so I will update the post as soon as I hear.

There is one small problem that has been noted, which is when using the 6 Button HTC home plugin the Touch Cube will stop the contacts tab from showing.
To get it back remove the registry entry HKLM/Software/OEM/MASD/Quickdial using Resco Explorer or similar.

Thanks for the nice find!

I just installed and start playing with the cube. OK, it uses Efrost's FTouchFlo, and the installation, as side-effect, also provides scrolling functionality. Looks like embodied FTouchFlo is ver 1.4.1 - latest one.

The cube itslef looks very nice, but I found it a bit slower compared to Slither's Cube. Swiping is not that smooth, and as biggest problem I found the need to wait 3-4 secs the contacts' picture to appear after the Contacts Side is opened.
- do you have the same experience?

It is very good that you can easily add and remove contacts - no one of other cubes I was looking at offers that possibility.

Another great stuff is that every time you start the cube it activates the side you have exited previously - thats really nice

Some tips to new users of HTC Cube

Some modifications on touch-flo functionality can be done modifying FTOUCHFloconfig.txt located in "\Program File\Touch Flo\" folder

- "Dealy:100" -- that represents the delay in msecs for scrolling functionality. For people with slow fingers make sense to try 200

- "GestureWaitingDelay:10000" -- the delay in msecs for the gestures. Currently the valye is set to 10000 - that looks quite high, usualy 1000 works well

- "DisableScroll:0" - if you do not want the scrolling functionality simply change the value to 1

- Excluded Applications, example "Exclude:PocketCM.exe" -- here should add all applications which "require" FTouchFlo to be disabled while they are active, like PocketCM - due to cnflict with embodied in pocketCM scrolling functioanlity,
or applications which you prefer not to be affected by scrolling and gestures when active - Opera browser make sense to be disabled too

- Making changes in FTOUCHFloconfig.txt do not require to softreset the device

Notice that:
1. Screen taps sounds will disappear - no way to get them back while this software is installed/active
2. Transcriber will not work

Dunno if I will use it that much practically as the response rates of things you run from it aren't great, but certainly looks very flash.

Actually it is very nice. Rotation is not that bad - I only mean it could be better The only thing you should get used to is waiting few seconds pictures on contact side to appear.

Boz have mentioned that this is work in progress - can expect only improvements

Transcriber and tap sounds are not an issue of the cube - it is limitation of FTouchFlo

It looks like most completed cube from currently available

I thought you might be surprised how good this one is! I have not posted any HTC Cube's up before because they had problems, but this one is worthy of a thread of it's own.

Is it just me or does anyone else find these things pointless?

I don't like the HTC Home plugin and I've just tried this Cube app and I didn't like it either!

It's at best a half-way house whereby you have to get the stylus out anyway after you've done something. They slow the device down and are limited in what they can do. I am back with my iLauncher and PocketBreeze Today screen and am far happier!

I'm not moanng about people developing this stuff, in fact, I am all for it! But to me it has to be all or nothing. Either finger only or stylus only and finger only would necessitate a complete re-write of the underlying OS to achieve.

I love the cube, im using Meschle's Artemis Touch 3.01 WM6 WWE ROM, 5.2.1921 SDHC full with cube, means the cube is built into the ROM and its very speedy and great for fingers and can be customized to your needs

That's right Wooley, very customisable but say for example you used your finger to tap on the Comm Manager icon in your screen. I would then have to get my stylus out to actually select anything in Comm Manager. If that's the case, I might just as well get the stylus out at the start and skip the messing with the finger bit!

That's the point I am trying to make. This is a halfway house that is neither one nor the other and is dependent on fundamental changes to Windows Mobile before it can truly become intuitive and stylus free.....

We live in hope!

Can't seem to get it working on my Hermes with official HTC WM6 Rom.
Any ideas? It says its in progress but nothing happens....
