Re: New HTC Keyboard and Keypad cab file (19-11-2007)
Boz, just got my HTC Touch today and am totally new to all this!
Is it literally a case of downloading the keypad from the link you posted, transferring across to the HTC then clicking install on the file on the unit? I dont need to worry about any "roms" or "cabs" etc? Those are beyond me!
Thanks,
Ian

Hi Ian and welcome to 4WM
It is a cab file and you install it exactly as you state in your description.

Re: New HTC Keyboard and Keypad cab file (19-11-2007)
Thanks for the welcome! Im enjoying browsing the site seeing what things i should be installing and what i should be avoiding!
That certainly sounds very simple, even for me! Does it matter if i save to the SD card or HTC memory?

Re: New HTC Keyboard and Keypad cab file (19-11-2007)
It would be best to install it to your device or problems can occur, but you can keep the cab file on your storage card in case you need to use it again after a hard reset, it is then ready to go again!

Perfect. Ill get onto it tomorrow.
One other thing, can the keypad be used without T9, or is it specifically made for T9 input only?

Re: New HTC Keyboard and Keypad cab file (19-11-2007)
Having a spot of difficulty boz.
I downloaded the file and transferred it to the HTC, but when i opened it there is a set up file and loads of other small files. No sign of any install? Whn i clicked on setup, a page full of what looked like codes came up.
Any further clues!?

Re: New HTC Keyboard and Keypad cab file (19-11-2007)
You do not need to open it you just tap on it to run it. Cab files are installation files, you transfer the whole cab file across to your device and as I said tap on it to run it.

Re: New HTC Keyboard and Keypad cab file (19-11-2007)
Let me explain from the start for you.
The file you have downloaded is a cab file, you need to transfer the file as it is to your devices storage card or onto your device itself via activesync, once the file has been transferred disconnect from activesync find the file with file explorer (in programmes on your device) then tap on it with your stylus to run it. I hope that is clearer for you.
