Re: !!! Internet Explorer 6.1 for WM6 devices, faster + with zoom options - cab file

Installed on my tilt - works well. what i did notice (need yet to repeat) that for some reason, after i ran the built-in PIE, it restored the default browser behavior (apparently re-registered the system DLLs).

is there a way to install that into windows folder and prevent this behavior?

thanks!

Hi bigkahuna and welcome to 4WM

I have not noticed that behaviour, did you soft reset after installation?

Re: !!! Internet Explorer 6.1 for WM6 devices, faster + with zoom options - cab file

So.... I think I have figured it out. After reset, if by mistake running the original PIE, or any other app that uses the webview DLLs, the default DLLs OS are loaded into memory. then when you open the hacked PIE link - the zoom link is not there, and the history option is back in the main menu (instead of moved to the tools menu).

if you then close the hacked PIE, close and open again - the zoom menu is back in place but disabled. the only way to get it back is to reset and then run the hacked PIE link first thing after reset (I think u will need to keep the app running to have the optiosn not go away).

so, that seems to indicate a need to install the hacked PIE 6.1 to the windows folder - does this make sense?

hope the above helps.

Re: !!! Internet Explorer 6.1 for WM6 devices, faster + with zoom options - cab file

Hi, yes I am aware of this behaviour and as long as you remove the original Internet Explorer from the start menu then there is less chance of this happening as you will not accidently hit the wrong one. There is no way around this as the original .dll files are baked into the rom.

The cab file constructs them in such a way.
