HTC fix for Windows Live Messenger (Online contacts not showing) 23-1-2008
Fix for Windows Live Messenger (Online contacts not showing) - for English version
If contacts appear as offline in Windows Live Messenger even though they are online, please download this fix (.exe file) and install it on your device to solve the problem.
Note: Only the 18125.0.2.3 OS build and earlier versions have this problem and need to be installed with the hot fix. Later versions do not need to be installed with the hot fix. To check the OS version on your device, tap Start > Settings > System tab > About.

Just tried that file, it's not a desktop installer and it doesn't run on the Ameo  , never mind, it was for the Tytn after all! |

It is for most HTC devices, I just double checked and it is the same download for the HTC Advantage!

Did you stop all programs running in the background before running the .exe file on your device?

With it being a PPC installer, I just downloaded it again over 3G direct to the Ameo, unzipped it and performed a soft-reset before running it. Although there's nothing on screen to tell me what it is, something has installed.
Might take a week or so before I can verify that this has solved the problem, I just used the change account options in Live Messenger to reset it previously.

All seems to be working ok, not had those nasty little issues since installing, can see when my contacts are online all the time now! |
