Re: !!! 6 button HTC Home plugin + BRAND NEW version of customization pack 16/03/08 !
Hi Andy, the way I did it on mine was to stop the extended rom installing after a hard reset which only really contains the operator settings and the O2 task manager, you can backup first using Sprite backup. It is easy to do just hard reset and wait until the countdown to the installation of the extended rom and soft reset straight away, once done run the backup and restore your settings.
To remove the battery and comm manager icons you need to registry edit using Resco Explorer on a free trial, and go to HKEY LOCAL MACHINE>init and delete the line 'launch tray exe' if I remember correctly.
The backup made may save your O2 operator settings if not that is easily sorted by making a note of them before you perform any of the above.

Re: !!! 6 button HTC Home plugin + BRAND NEW version of customization pack 16/03/08 !
Hi boz!
Thank you for responding.
I've got an O2 Xda Orbit 2 (I did mention the Orbit 2 bit in my post, but should have made it more prominent).
I added it into my profile as well, thinking that the sig would display retrospectively (as it does on the other forums I inhabit - also using the same forum software) but I see that it didn't.
In Start Menu/Settings/Personal/Today there are two tabs in the dialogue box - Appearance and Items. In Items there is a tick-box entry for HTC Home which is ticked, and no other references to HTC.
Sounds like something is missing?
Ian

Hi Ian, the signature doesn't show when you are using your device to post when mobile only from the PC. Thats how I missed it, I can see it loud and clear now!
I would uninstall the 6 Button plugin you have installed and try the second one and see if that is better.

Re: !!! 6 button HTC Home plugin + BRAND NEW version of customization pack 16/03/08 !
Hi boz!
Thanks for persevering with me... we're getting there (button by button)!
I've uninstalled the 3-button HTC Home plugin; restarted; and installed the one that is downloaded from the second 'HERE' link.
I've now got 5 buttons:
Home - Weather - Launcher - Sound - Music
If it helps, these are the filenames of the two cabs I've downloaded from the 1st and 2nd 'HERE' links:
1. HTC_Touch_Home_Plugin.cab (3 button)
2. mUn_and_JUVS_HTC_Home_eng_0409.cab (5 button)
I'm still only seeing two tabs in
Start Menu/Settings/Personal/Today
namely, 'Appearance' & 'Items'
Also, when I highlight HTC Home in
Start Menu/Settings/Personal/Today/Items
should the 'Options' button be enabled (it's greyed out)?
Perhaps I should try the third link?
Thanks,
Ian

No you are there! The other missing tab is normal in some cases and as it says in my first post:-
If you have any problems with the contacts tab not showing, then you will need to remove the registry entry HKLM/Software/OEM/MASD/Quickdial using Resco Explorer or similar.
The six buttons will then show, phew!

Bingo!
Nice catch, boz, and thanks again for leading a WM beginner though the necessary steps.
I used Resco Regedit, btw - those nice Resco people were kind enough to let me crossgrade from the Palm version of Resco Explorer.
All the best,
Ian

Me too!
But I think I may have called bingo a little prematurely - I've just noticed that I don't have that extra third tab for HTC Home in
Start Menu/Settings/Personal/Today
that you mention in Post 39.
Sorry to have to stretch this one out further...
Ian

Re: !!! 6 button HTC Home plugin + BRAND NEW version of customization pack 16/03/08 !
Thanks for the reply and info. I managed to find a program which allows you to end processes. It's a task manager for PPC. I simply stopped the old O2 process and that has removed the icon. It will no doubt come back on a soft reset. I'll try your method to permanently remove it.
Just out of interest, does a hard reset put your phone back to factory defaults with no programs or data? What exactly does sprite backup do in terms of backing up programs, settings etc? Does it restore all programs and data etc?
Thanks again,
Andy

I wouldn't worry I think that only came with one version and I cannot for the life of me remember which one!

Hi Andy, yes a hard reset will return it to factory defaults, Sprite backup saves the device's info so you can carry on as you were before a hard reset. Hope that helps.
