Re: PPC Synch without Outlook
I find that with Webmail on the exch server, portability isn't really a problem these days, i can literally access my email from anywhere with a net connection!!

Re: PPC Synch without Outlook
That would work well for me if I ran a server from home which I think I would if I had a garage to keep it in, perhaps it's time I moved

Re: PPC Synch without Outlook
We're actually looking to convert our garage this year. Utility room at the back with a large study at the front with my PC, the router, printer, print server and then either a new NAS or a Server!

My hosting service offers both Pop3 access and a webmail interface so I have the same thing with my own domain. Dirt cheap as well.

Run it as a VM mate.... It's what I'm going to do with Exch 2007.

Re: PPC Synch without Outlook
It's more that I don't want a machine left on at home whilst I am not there mate than the how will I do it, I used to have a server running with things like Exchange and other stuff on it but as I have got less techy (more pointy haired boss) I have lost some of the interest in messing with things such as this, couple that with the additional electricity and possible failures that I could then be unable to fix till home and be without mail and other stuff I'd rather let someone else have the headache.
As they say though each to there own, not often is there a one fits all scenario in this game

Re: PPC Synch without Outlook
Indeed... Totally agree, I'm going more pointy haired myself, but I do love the tech... I guess something like 4SP is the key then, do they give web access to email? I have toyed with the idea of going hosted for exchange, but I still like to fiddle with the software myself. Time is a problem at the moment which is why there is no Exchange 2007 at present here!
