Question Battery Status- Today Screen Customiser

I am using battery status (from XDA Devs) - very simple but good for me

You set the MBs of your monthly plan, and then the software provides you with:
1. total used data as % of the plan
2. total data used current month in Kb/Mb
3. data used today in Kb/Mb
4. time been connected - total durng the month

it is free

EDIT:
1. Neilm, thank you for opening special thread for BS customization
2. This first post here may be confusing - it came from differnet thread, where the discussions evolved into BS customization
3. Please start checking from post 6 here on BS customization topic

Re: Best PPC GPRS Data counter App.

Where can we see the GPRS info in this app?

I've downloaded the freeware version but I don't see an option for something like data monitoring.

I've also seen that there's a beta of a commercial (not freeware) version, is it in there? Then it's not really meant to be freeware I guess (after release) .
(Not that commercial software is bad of course, most of the software I use is not freeware, and in general I think that it's great if a developer has a free light version of software and then also sells an enhanced version! )

Re: Best PPC GPRS Data counter App.

Never mind, I just looked at the website some more and found the answer here:
BatteryStatus Advanced | Homepage of Chi-Tai

I guess the enhanced version is free while in beta stages, so for now the data can be tracked for free. I guess this is a bit late for the topic starter, but it would have been a good solution I think. I'll download the .cab files for both versions and give them a try in the coming days...

@ spmwinkel

I forgot to mention I use more advanced beta version - sorry

Can find a lot of detailed info on the application here

If you are interested in how to customize BS, skins and more advanced features - weather addons, and getting virtually total control of your device through BS check here

Thanks for your update marttin! I'm a bit busy right now but I defenitely plan on looking into the advanced setup of BS in the future!

If I'm right - the beta is still completely free right? I see a device code in the About screen but on the BS homepage I can't seem to find a way to register.

Yes, you are right, and there is no way to register (yet).

More longer answer is that after some time the beta will expire - do not remember exact time period, but for sure it is few weeks.

If you keep updated your BS with newer builds, you do not have a problem with "time bomb". The developer, Chi Tai, delivers new builds virtually every week - what you need to do is from time to time to update with latest version.

BTW, BS is extremely powerful piece of software, and many on XDA suggest to rename the application as "Swiss PPC Knife" or something like that. To give you an idea, just have a look no my today screen - it is BS only (the clock, weather, etc). What you see is unfinished skinning of BS I do, based on others work.

Re: Best PPC GPRS Data counter App.

Thanks again for your reply!

I've also discovered the customization and I'm just getting started (first time using .xml).

Using the example sliding launcher .xml file I'm now adding my favourite shortcuts (see screenshot). Afterwards I will build in a large digital clock I think.
(Below BS I've got PocketBreeze, I don't think I will insert that into Battery Status. I depend on it too much. On the other hand, it would eliminate the horizontal line...).

A question: Do you know if Battery Status can also put a battery bar at the top of the screen? (That is, above the Start text, notification icons, network icon, clock, etc)

Thanks!

My test, see bellow, shows that it is not possible. But better check with the guys on XDA Devs - my skills are quite limited to be honest.

On XDA, the thread with skins, you can find a lot of clocks, including very big, and Diamond like - you can use the icons and xml as base at least

Hm, who knows
in the beginning I start with very simple modification. Later, after discovered the flexibility of BS, start doing major changes - it was not in the plan.
Currently trying to "integrate" BS with PhW, rk-LocationSwitch (location based trigger) and MagiCall. Actually the empty area you see in my prev post is reserved for showing the location I am in (office, home, kid school, etc.), current profile (PhW - but its more complex as rk-LocationSwitch and PhW "work" together on phone profiles), and the active profile of MagiCall. In some parts "integration" is thanks to MortScript

BTW, you can check the link here for collection of BS themes. It is Russian forum, but even without knowing the language can download the themes you like . You do not need to be forum member to download

I start realise we need to open a special thread for BS discussions
Hope the Mods will excuse us!?

Re: Best PPC GPRS Data counter App.

Hi marttin Thanks for your informative post! Could you tell me what you are using for the battery bar above the top bar? Is it the same that's giving you the buttons of running programs at the top bar?
