Re: WMDC / Exchange 2007 Sync issues with tasks?
Every time I try and add the new Win2K3 server installation as a new domain controller in the existing domain, the error is that it can't find the primary Domain controller. I can't remember exactly, something about the DNS record not being availale for the original domain controller. Not surprising as I never built a DNS server in the first place when I did the original exchange install.
So I created a DNS server, but stil no record for it.... I may convert my exchange clients back to POP3 whilst I trash and rebuild the domain from the ground up with a DNS server this time!

Re: WMDC / Exchange 2007 Sync issues with tasks?
Have you tried setting the primary DNS on the new server to be the IP address of the DC? In a 2003 AD environment the primary DNS address should always be that of a DC.

Re: WMDC / Exchange 2007 Sync issues with tasks?
The secondary DNS would then usually be the IP address of your router.

Re: WMDC / Exchange 2007 Sync issues with tasks?
Does that mean that the DC should always be running as a DNS then?

Re: WMDC / Exchange 2007 Sync issues with tasks?
If you're running a 1 server solution it makes sense, but otherwise not especially. In the case of a separate DNS server (I use DNS functionality from my wireless router) you would have the IP address of the DC as the Primary DNS entry and the IP of the DNS server as the Secondary.

Re: WMDC / Exchange 2007 Sync issues with tasks?
In the DNS server each entry can have a record type, can't remember them now but the domain add error was looking for a specific type of record.

Re: WMDC / Exchange 2007 Sync issues with tasks?
I'd do away with the seperate DNS sever mate if I was you. DNS is not the easiest thing in the world to get working properly.
