Winterface With Weather

VITO Technology updates Winterface - mobile shell for Windows Mobile devices. The new version of Winterface features a Weather icon among other status icons with "live" info like time, calendar, e-mail, tasks and other icons. Winterface 1.14 also addresses some minor device specific bugs and provides further improvements.

Since Winterface was released in July there has been a definite call from its users for weather support. Many users find Winterface much more attractive than the Today screen and want to see Weather information in Winterface.

For this purpose VITO Technology has developed a free stand-alone product Weather. Weather installs on device just like any other application but its icon when added to Winterface displays the actual weather information. Weather is completely finger-friendly and easy to use application.

Among other improvements there are numerous bug fixes and cyclic page scrolling, i.e. users can flip through pages with icons from the last page immediately to the first one and vice versa.

Weather is a free application available for downloading here: http://iwindowsmobile.com/Weather.cab

VITO Technology Inc. is known for its innovative products in the field of Windows Mobile and Symbian software, GPS navigation and custom projects. Introduced in this press-release iWindowsMobile Communication Suite is an enhancement tool for Windows Mobile interface.

Re: Winterface With Weather

Nice! I've been using Winterface since it came out and wouldn't be without it now. Couldn't give a stuff about the weather bit myself, but some of the other new icons look good and the ability to swipe from last to first page is well worth the effort. Especially now that settings are remembered during an update.

Re: Winterface With Weather

I've installed both the new Winterface and the weather cab. The new winterface is very nice. Very few changes but being able to scroll around from the last to the first page (or vice-versa) makes a big difference to me. There are a couple of new icons in there which are nice. The weather app is actually very good, allowing you to have multiple cities set up and swipe from one to the other. It works as a standalone app as well as integrating nicely into Winterface. The weather data looks like it comes from AccuWeather as the Isle of Man is included, which isn't the case with some of the other providers.

The only other slight bug in Winterface that I'd noticed was rather poor handling of recurring events in the calendar - particularly if you broke a recurring appointment for one day - although that seems to be the case for many apps due to the horrible way Outlook represents recurring appointments within it's database. I haven't had a chance to play and see if this has been resolved in the new release.

Anyway, I'm happy with it

Re: Winterface With Weather

I tried it again as well, and have to admit I still like it. I do find it too easy to 'drag' rather than select a tile on the Diamond, and I can't get the gesturing to work properly to close the app, but the Diamond's 'Home' button gets over that nicely!

Weather is good (especially for the price!) but only 2 days forecast.

I just think it looks so drab though. A little colour wouldn't go a miss would it?

Well Vito are based in Russia, maybe their weather influences their designs!

Re: Winterface With Weather

Thanks, guys for your feedback!
The Weather is in black and white to match with Winterface. Probably, we'll make new bright skin for Winterface and Weather some day.

Well, you are right to some extent, we are now waiting for the first snow to fall down

Re: Winterface With Weather

Now finally got round to installing it here, definitely needs to look ahead more than one day though. Has some very good locations available - even some of the more obscure villages we visit in Wales.
