Re: Review: Ultimate-Netbook U20 External Power Pack for Laptop and PDA

After two months of use, this External Battery continues to give good service and I regularly use it to top up my Advent 4213 and my HTC Diamond phone.

One small annoyance is that for some reason it will not reliably charge my O2 XDA Flint (HTC X7510); it charges for about 15 minutes then turns off, and the charge level never increases beyond a few percent. If I'm using the device with the screen off (such as when listening to music) it will charge. I suspect there is either a lack of power via the USB charger, or the Flint's charging circuit is failing to register the connection. Weird

It may be a bit low on amps at a guess?

Yes - I suspect that's the case . Even USB charging with the PC takes an age though the end car charger is fine.

Re: Review: Ultimate-Netbook U20 External Power Pack for Laptop and PDA

Hi neil,

good review thinking of getting it. Just one question. I have a advent 4213. If this battery was fully charged and my 4213 had no power would it fully charge the advent while I was using it at the same time or would it run out power.

Thanks

Scott

Hi Scott- to be honest, I don't know. I may not be able to check till tomorrow evening, as my Advent is fully charged at present, but I'll let you know

Thanks neil,

I was thinking of getting a second battery but this seems to do so much more. If it can be plugged in to the advent when the advents battery is flat and charge it fully than that will give me a fully days working time if I start the day with my advent fully charged (if you see what I mean).

Appreciate you testing it out.

Re: Review: Ultimate-Netbook U20 External Power Pack for Laptop and PDA

Hi Scott: I've given this a whirl and am pleased to report that it works fine.

I let my Advent 4213 run down to 5%, then plugged in the U2O charger. This was 15 minutes ago, and I've continued using the Advent; it's now up to 18% charged.

So, yes, the U2O is capable of providing enough current to use and charge the device at the some time. It looks as if there is enough power for 2 full charges.

Yes- I thought so too! I eventually did about 40 minutes concurrent use and charging (from 5% charge on the Advent) then hibernated the Advent and let it continue charging.

Once charged, the U20 was still showing 50% available, so I reckon if I started with full Advent and U20 batteries, I'd be able to get about 8-10 hours continuous heavy use.

So with two fully charged batteries you easily have enough to last a long working day, and some!
