Thanks for testing that Neil.

That is really impressive. Looks like a future purchase

One small glitch last night- after the previous testing I had one bar showing on the U2o; the Advent needed a quick boost last night, so plugged the U2o in, but there was no juice at all! Not sure whether it was just 'one of those things'

Re: Review: Ultimate-Netbook U20 External Power Pack for Laptop and PDA

I just purchased one of these units primarily for charging my USB compatible devices. However, I happen to own a Compaq Mini laptop. The laptop charger is 19 volts at 1.5 Amps. However, I notice that the external battery provides about 3.5 amps output, which would seem to me to be too high for charging the laptop. If that is so is it possible to just run the laptop from the external batteery rather than charging?

TBH I don't know! I'd assume that the charging circuits of the laptop ought to be able to cope, and limit the call on the charger to an acceptable level- the 3.5 A is a maximum value.

I am testing the smaller brother to this battery at the moment rated at 5400mAh, and I found when the last bar was showing charge it could have just 1% left and hence will not charge.

The battery will be ok, it is rated at up to 19v output, BUT will not give out 3.5 A and blow a device, as you say Neil it is just the maximum output, the battery pack can be used on low voltage - low amperage PDA/phones, camcorders and many other items and will give out the juice the device needs that is why it is so flexible.

Re: Review: Ultimate-Netbook U20 External Power Pack for Laptop and PDA

I have a quick question. That will be the deciding factor in weather I purchase this great but expensive product. Can you charge the U2o while charging your laptop/Device? If so this would be the perfect solution for me due to the fact I just bought a umpc(Everrun Note) and the OEM power supply is fricken huge, and the battery life is not wonderful. So if I could ditch the mamma-jamma power supply for this device I would be a happy camper. I guess a good question would be how does the U2o charge itself is it just a cord or does it have it's own powerbrick?

Yes, well I think so. I have the same device but a smaller 5V only version and that will charge and power at the same time so I'm pretty sure it will. One of the other guys should be able to confirm for you though.

I have the 5400mAh version as shown here, and that can also charge and power at the same time and comes with a mains lead and no power block. I am sure the U20 External Power Pack will be the same to be honest.

Thanks so much for the info! This is one sweet device the more I think about it the more it makes my kit so much simpler! And mobile!

Can't wait for mine to arrive.
