A strange title maybe..... but..... many many years ago when I owned Psion machines as PDAs I was on the look out for a decent belt holster that could be securely belt mounted (with no risk of it coming loose) and that could withstand knocks and bashes whilst navigating across a factory floor.
I discovered a holster manufactured by
Vega Holsters, which are maufactured from saddle quality leather and imported into the UK from Italy.
I've used around 4 Vega Holsters so far, of many differnt sizes and have never found anything that can beat them for longevity and protection.
Now the tale gets a bit weird...... The Vega web site lists their address as being in Rochdale, but that unit is now owned by a printer. I decided to give them a call and see if they were still indeed in business.
Talking to the business owner it seems that he has been very ill for a number of years and during that time moved addresses into the town of Walley. Unfortunately during the period of illness his web designer ceased to work on web pages and as the owner knows nothing about the web he has no one to update the web site and change the address etc.
Anyway to cut a long story short I ordered the IR208 belt holster in brown as this size wise will fit both the iPhone 3G or the Xda Ignito (H114mm, W61mm, D17mm).
The case was despatched promptly and arrived today......
It does not disappoint, the holster features are described as:
Dual function fully lined belt holster that can be worn on the belt or simply used as a case. lt features our injection moulded nylon spring clip that locks on to the belt or, for a more secure fastening, the belt may be threaded through the slots. When worn near the rear trouser pocket the holster is comfortable and the mobile phone is instantly accessible while sitting or walking. Designed to fit belts up to 4 cm width.
The quality of manufacture is still there, the thick leather offers unbelieveable protection, the large press stud fastener is very stong and secure, the inner velvety lining serves to lovingly cuddle the devices and the construction that allows me to thread the holster onto a good thick leather belt means it can never come loose.
Oh and yes there are different styles of holster varying from shoulder holsters (I kid you not) through to belt types with a full flap instead of a holding strip.
So I'm in holster heaven once more with my current gadgets protected from all ills
So if you do want a really good quality (and cheap) holster you can't do much better than treat yourself to a Vega!
