TomTom is happy running the application from an expansion card (freeing up 5MB internal memory) and push email isn't particularly data intensive, unless you are downloading attachments as well, so GPRS suffices.
And email attachments can always be shunted onto the strorage card too.

I'd still rather have a keyboard device Dave, the HTC P4350 is available to Joe Public for about £20 more, a far more attractive prospect IMHO (In fact I'd even prefer a Wizard). If E-Ten manage to fix the T-Mobile problem with the Glofiish M700 then you could buy a device with built in GPS and a (cough dodgy cough) keyboard for less than £300.

To be fair though it does offer considerably better value than the HTC Panda but I do think that as the market is beginning to see more and more manufacturers release new models that HTC is starting to look like the expensive option. I would really have loved to see a £250 price point for the Touch as it would've delivered a real wow factor for me then.

Re: HTC Touch Review

I see where you're coming from but I don't need a keyboard, and certainly not at the expense of doubling the size and weight of the device (I know it's not twice the size of the Herald but it is more than a third). You're also getting WM6 and the HTC software. It might not sound much but having used the Touch ENTIRELY for almost 3 weeks now (and yes, that includes Friday and Saturday night!) the only software I've loaded onto it is Sudoku. It's not just about the hardware. With WM6 the HTC and TouchFLO software this bad boy is ready to go out the box. The Herald and certainly the Wizard aren't.

Like I said, if you need a keyboard then this isn't for you, but it IS a superb device for the market it's aimed at, and IMHO the most complete package HTC have produced to date. THAT is why it's a bargain at £300.

Hmmm.... maybe I should try and incorporate that into the review.....

Re: HTC Touch Review

You sure you're not working for the HTC marketing department?

Agreed, if you don't want a keyboard then it does look very interesting and HTC do finally seem to be doing something interesting from a software point of view..... still prefer it to be cheaper though

I have to admit that I'm still yet to install any third party software on my Vox (mainly due to a lack of time for researching Smartphone software) and am very pleasantly surprised by how well I'm coping without it.

Yeah, I'd had my E650 for a couple of weeks with again, only sudoku installed and was using it happily until I broke it. WM6 really does seem to be nearly there.

If only they could just add some more games then we would obviously be happy

Re: HTC Touch Review

Obviously I'd like some business improvements too, but if there was an extra game in the pipeline as well that would be excellent. Ahem.

Re: HTC Touch Review

Manic Miner installed on all WM devices by default - that would be bliss!

Re: HTC Touch Review

Agreed. That would be totally cool. Which reminds me, I haven't installed my c64 emu on the Touch yet.......

And if you add a BT keyboard into the mix, then there you have it... A perfect package for some. I'd like to try the onscreen SIP, to see if I really could live without a hardware keyboard though....

Re: HTC Touch Review

I still think for me I'd miss the keyboard and control buttons.
