I have been lucky enough to lay my hands on the brilliant, but yet to be released E-TEN Glofiish V900 that comes with a built in digital TV tuner, FM radio, Sirf III built in GPS, an FM transmitter and a 3.0MP camera with flash and auto focus amongst many other things.

The V900 is...

Yes the Satellite Data Update is the equivalent of HTC's QuickGPS, it works well but the signal locks ok without using it for me!

What's the signal like Boz? Do you have to be hanging out of a top floor window with a coat hanger sticking out of your phone to get a watchable picture?

The signal is very good actually, and the tuner is very sensitive. There are problems in areas with a weak signal but it is no worse to be honest than your home TV set. You either get a picture or you don't with digital, there are no inbetweens. The VGA screen does give an excellent quality picture with fine detail easily visible.

Having Sky Sports News is very handy!

I know this is subjective, but when you're out and about how often do you find you can/can't get a signal? Also, what about indoors?

Re: Hands on with the Glofiish V900 E-TEN's latest flagship device

Indoors for me is a no go, but that is down to a weak signal in my area as I am down in a valley so to speak and the main mast for my area is 30 miles away, but out and about it is ok and I think the built in receiver is quite powerful for it's size.

It is just the same as getting a signal on any device such as an FM radio or even a phone. Main areas with good digital coverage such as London etc have no problems with reception.

You can use a manual scan on the V900 that will find the signal for you in all the available bandwidths so that itself comes in useful.

I haven't tried it on the move as I can't see that working unless the signal locks onto the same bandwidth for the whole journey. I will give it a go when my other half next drives me somewhere.
