Re: O2 Xda Serra

It's been a while coming though hasn't it. When did we first see the Serra, 6 months ago?

It's taken a lot of fixing I believe.

Hi Boab,

The Serra is a nice phone and the early GPS issues do indeed seem to be resolved by the recent ROM upgrade....

So long as you want a hardware keyboard otherwise the Diamond is the same without.

Re: O2 Xda Serra

thanks for the speedy reply, the keyboard is whats attracting me as never had a touchscreen phone before, and like the idea of still having buttons to play with.

that's good news on the rom update, i'll try a search to see if i can find out how effective it's been.

think you have just ticked my last box with that reply

cheers

Re: O2 Xda Serra

The other plus is the Serra has a MicroSD Card slot so you can go up to 32GB but the Diamond has no slot and is fixed at 4GB Internal Storage.

If you want a true Media device, the Card Slot is a must!

Re: O2 Xda Serra

And with one of the cooked ROMs, the Serra has certainly become exceptional for me!!

Re: O2 Xda Serra

Hello,

I spoke to O2 retentions today as I am due up an upgrade. Originally my intention was to redue monthly costs and stick with my Orbit 2, but I saw a colleague's XDA Serra and really like the look of these, so I have revised this objective to cutting monthly costs and getting an XDA Serra. The girl I spoke to in retentions was very unhelpful, she offered me a handset free retention deal the same as you can get if you are opening a new O2 account. On the XDA front, she said that retentions do not have this phone yet and they don't know when they would be getting it and was therefore unable to talk about deals. Can it really be the case that new customers can order this phone from the O2 online shop or by visiting an O2 shop, but existing customers cannot? It all seems very strange to me, so on the basis of the poor deals she was offering I asked for my PAC code and gave 30 days notice. During this time I will have to decide what to do.

Any insight into how I can have a sensible conversation with O2 retentions about the XDA Serra?

Thanks,

James

Re: O2 Xda Serra

I'd try contacting O2 again as the variation in staff knowledge can be massive. I can't see it not being available.

Re: O2 Xda Serra

The XDA Serra has been around for months. The ony way Retentions might not have it is if they have sold out and they aren't getting any more in.

The HTC equivalant (the Touch Pro) is being replaced very soon by the (surprise!) Touch Pro 2 so it could be O2 have cleared out their stock to make way for the replacement.
