Re: O2 XDA Zest Review!
For anyone who needs word-suggest with input methods other than xt9, the following registry modification activates the xt9 'suggest bar' for those -
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9:XT9SupportMS Sip
Original
REG_DWORD
0
Change to
REG_DWORD
1
If anyone (actually) knows how to re-enable 'native' MS word-suggest, I'd appreciate a post here.
O2 (candsmdata@o2mail.co.uk) don't appear to know.
Registry Editors -
PC-based - http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl
PPC-based - http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit
(read http://tinyurl.com/PHMRegEditInstall)
Backup (data & registry) first.

Re: O2 XDA Zest Review!
That's a nice tip with those reg keys Ken. I'm not sure about the MS suggested words though. Maybe one of the other chaps will know.

Re: O2 XDA Zest Review!
After going through the comments on this forum, I was keeping my fingers crossed on whether it will be sim locked.
I just purchased an O2 XDA Zest from an O2 Store under PAYG and it is unlocked. I first used it with an O2 sim and then with a Vodaphone sim and it works.
Thanks a lot for your helpful comments.

Yes, it won't matter what country they are in as long as they are using GSM.

Re: O2 XDA Zest Review!
Not tried the Zest but I would say that if you like your Orbit 2 then you should also very much like the XDA Guide. I've found it to be a really nice phone to use "out of the box". Fast, plenty of memory, nice and small, feels good in the hand and the software enhancements from O2 are very good - particularly the NavPanel (if you use the SatNav). Not sure how much it offers over and above the Orbit 2, though, to justify the expense of an upgrade. Unless you get it for free, in which case, go for it

Re: O2 XDA Zest Review!
Personally I'd go for the Zest, but I really like it. I always found the Orbit 2 too plasticky, and never liked it. The Zest is much more sturdy and it has a dpad rather than a trackball too!

Re: O2 XDA Zest Review!
I got 5 of these in last week and thought they looked pretty good until I picked one up, it feels horribly cheap and plasticky. It's left me in a bit of a quandary as we had planned to make this the entry level push email device in the business (following my dismissal of the Nokia E51 as simply woeful).
