Re: HTC Touch Diamond 2 - Living with!

Hi, been very interested in the d2 for a while. I currently have the original iphone and it has been a great phone/mp3 player to use.
Was wondering if you have tested the d2 as a mp3 player?what is the sound quality and battery life like?
Are there many customisation features for the user interface of the phone?
Also, how does the screen resolution comapre to an iphone and is the touch screen capability as fluid as the iphone?
not trying to put this phone down in anyway, just curious as to how it comapres.I might just have to get the d2 to replace my iphone
thanks in advance

Hi kong87,

I'm sure you'll have a specific answer regarding the D2 shortly but if you want to wade into the iPhone versus Windows Mobile debate take a quick look in the Editorials section!

Re: HTC Touch Diamond 2 - Living with!

If music is what you are interested in then natively the iPhone IMHO can not be beaten in that department. The D2 does of course have the WM Media Player on board but it is quite limited compared to the player on the iPhone. Saying that it does playback all the MP3's I carry around with me which were syned into place using Media Player on the PC.

If I was seriously into media playback though I'd be using a third party application with more features.

Sound quality is good adn of course it does support stereo bluetooth which the iPhone doesn't.

The phones user interface can not be modified apart from general theme colours unless you go for a third party application lke Spb's Mobile Shell 3.

Re: HTC Touch Diamond 2 - Living with!

Hello. I have 2 questions : first, could you please give us the size of the screen preferably in centimeters (width and length). Second, have you installed tomtom 6 or 7 on it and does it work well. I've read that there are some voice problems.
Thanks. Ps : sorry for my english (I'm french....)

Re: HTC Touch Diamond 2 - Living with!

The screen is 42mm wide by 71mm tall, or as close as I can measure them anyway. TomTom 7 works on it without any problems at all, I've not transferred my licenses over yet but I have seen it running on a friends machine.

Oh and watch out for some new pics soon. I've just taken delivery of the new Brodit Active Mount for the D2, and a desk mount and adaptor are on the way. So come the weekend I'll post up some pics and my thoughts.

Re: HTC Touch Diamond 2 - Living with!

Hi!
I am about to buy either an Xperia or a Diamond2.
You wrote before, that they are difficult to compare, but which one would you get again? Which one "feels" better?
You also wrote that the D2 is significantly bigger than the X1, even though they should be about the same size, avvording to the specs. What makes the D2 appear bigger?
How about scratching and build quality?
Thanks for all your useful information!

Flordin

The screen diagonal of the D2 is bigger (3.2" vs 3") but in fact the Xperia is bigger than the D2 in all dimensions except width, and is significantly thicker with its keyboard

Xperia: 52.6 x 110.50 x 16.7 millimetres; Weight 158g
D2: 53.1 x 107.85 x 13.7 millimetres; Weight 117g

Size can often be subjective though
