Introduction
Fujitsu-Siemens are building themselves quite a reputation in the Windows Mobile arena. Building on the...

Daron, I use Magic Button exclusively these days, ever since being introduced to it here, it's become my fave!

Right, in that case I know what the problem was (in my case at least) in was running WisBarAdvance2 as my task manager. Removing that eliminated 90% of the GPS lock problems and since then I've only had one failure. That was eliminated by a soft reboot.
Also found that minimising the processes running also assists. That is I had TenGO and TenGO thumb running, removing 'thumb' again removes a process and help eliminate the problem.
The other tip for any N560 owners who may use PB, iLauncher, etc, is to set them to carry our load delays as I'm thinking it gives more time for the OS to load in any drivers it may need for the GPS.
Now a completely awesome and fast machine.

And more good news Jim, if one wants to go the WBA2 route then installing v2.6.01 gets round the glitches I suffered and it runs like a dream.
Gonan add VoiceCommand later and see how that performs, the LOOX shoud be able to handle it with ease!

I wrote the N560 review for Pocket PC Thoughts. I used the GPS on my N560 extensively with no lock problems at all. While running WBA2 all the time. I have been running 2.6.01 since I first got the unit, so that may be the reason.

Hi Doug,
That definitely provides some confirmation on that point then, as I wasn't using Wisbar when I wrote the N560 review for 4WM.
I"ll have to see how healthy this months pay packet is!

Daron,
Thank you! This was the tip I needed! No problems met anymore, so far.

Re: Fujitsu-Siemens Loox N560 Review
I'm very interested in a pocket PC + GPS but also want to use automatic traffic avoidance (TMC or something). I've seen some devices require a special TMC craddle does anyone know what the case is for N560?

I believe Automatic Traffic Avoidance usually requries a data connection. The device has to connect to the Internet and download a file which contains a list of current traffic problems, road works etc to feed into the routing software.
In the case of the N560, as it is not a Phone Edition device but just a plain PPC (albeit with GPS built-in) I would assume it would have to maintain a bluetooth connection to a Mobile Phone and use this as an external modem to dial up periodically and get the file.
Though this functionality would, presumably, need to be supported by whatever GPS traffic routing software you were using, whether that be TomTom, Navicore or whatever.
So, does anyone know if any of the big Nav. apps are capable of downloading traffic files over an external internet connection? If they do, then all you need is a bluetooth enabled mobile phone and a data contract with your service provider. From what I understand, the files are tiny so GPRS or 3G bills shouldn't be too prohibitive.
