THanks for your impressions Paul, definitely an interesting read and I'm glad the TyTN is working well for you.

I noted you have a Draytek Router, which model? I have the 2600G... Great products!!

Not sure about that wifi coverage! I can use my MiniS all over the house and garden. Have you had similar experiences Dave?

I've got an oldish 2600We - works very well but only a 'b'. It's behind two internal walls and is right up against one of them (in the study) ... so it probably isn't best positioned ... but the side by side the 2750 has much better reception. My Thinkpad (43p) also has no problems (even in the garden which is twice as far away and through two more walls including an external one).

Other thoughts re VGA.
I loved my 4700 .... while I had it .... but from discussions with others, although it is beautiful to look at, on a screen this size, I'm not sure how beneficial it would be, certainly for written text.

Also ... many report it seems to have a very negative effect on battery and performance ..

That could be rubbish of course ... like the discussion around extra memory having a major impact on battery. My 2750 lasts an age on a charge that has the highest clocked CPU and internal memory of any PDA.

I'm pretty happy without it ... although truth be told ... if there were two models and one was £50 more than the other but came with VGA, the gadget fanatic in me would have me go for the VGA one.

Paul.

My Wifi rocks. I have a netgear router at the front of the house and I can sit and browse quickly in the back garden without issue.

I have wifi at home and work and both work well - Can't beat sitting on the loo and surfing at the same time.

Great review. Comprehensive and just what I wanted to hear and suspected.....

The tytn is great.

I am looking forward to getting one but will probably go for T-mobile for their wnw so i can use the internet facilities to the max.

It's a shame that the t-mobile looks so crap though...i'm almost tempted to pay the vodaphone tariffs.

I personally prefer the Voda squarer button look too, but I've seen a lot of people liking the rounder button. Horses for courses I guess.

TMobile definitly still do the best tariffs though.

Nice Review. I have a MDA Vario (wizard) and after reading the review I think I'll keep it. Yes, it's sluggish, but I can overclock it.

The negatives about upgrading in my opinion are mainly no stereo speakers (!), crappier keyboard (I like my seperate keys), I have 7 GB of MiniSD cards and also there won't be a functional HSDPA network in Australia until at least March 2007 (which probably means June 2007).

I think I'll wait until they refresh the Jasjar or something similar, with the faster data speeds I'm likely to be itching for a VGA screen even more.

Apparently the v1605 is a HTC Mercury, the fun and games start again.
