Well, things are going well with the device, the GPS works amazingly...took it to NYC for New Year's eve, my wife was driving, I was navigating, and we actually had a great time driving around NYC!!!

I am still having a few minor problems, however.

One has to do with the alarms not being able to be dismissed/snoozed when I have spb pocket pc installed. I have contacted them about that.

secondly, I'd like to uninstall Voice Commander, and use Microsoft Voice Command. I can't find a way to uninstall it, and I can't get it to let go of the BT functionality. I contacted the company that makes it, but haven't heard back from them yet.

Finally, I notice that to turn it off, I press the red hang up button, and then it closes whatever is running (but does it really close it?), and the next, and the next, and then it will finally shut off. no big deal, but a little annoying.

*edit* I'm also experiencing a lack of voice mail icon showing up when i get a new voice mail, called tmobile, they said it's a problem w/ the phone.

any ideas?

Re: Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket LOOX T830 Review

Followed the instructions at the link below, it didn't remove voice commander, but it did enable me to use ms voice command instead!

one down, three to go!!

Erm what link below?

IIRC there is a problem with the way T-Mobile handle voice mail notifications, which is incompatible with WM devices.

For shutting off I use the 'Phoneoff' application as I think I mentioned in the review?

I thought the issues were Vodafone, not T Mobile. I get TMobile notifications fine.

On my old phone (Imate pocket pc running wm2003) the little icon would show up at the top in the title bar when I had a message, now, nothing. The only symbols that show up are a triangle and a G in a box, the bt headphone icon (when it's connected), and, of course, the signal strength meeter. Tmobile says it's cause my phone isn't compatible with their system, which I don't think is completely accurate.

I do get text messages, and notifications, just no voice mail notifiaction.

There is a triangle symbol which means roaming - is that the one you are seeing? My report about T Mobile is UK, whereas you are in US. If your contract is such that you are with a virtual network provider your phone will think it is roaming all the time. This might have some effect on the notifications so it's a possible cause of your problem.

There are some third party programs that might help e.g. phoneAlarm shows an unread messages count, and does its own alert for incoming message which you can configure. I strongly advise doing a backup before installing a phoneAlarm trial though, because installing then uninstalling it tends to mess up your settings.

Ah cheers Cyc it could be Voda I was thinking of.

Ref Phone Alarm I've never had any issues installing and removing it, settings are easy to reset, but with ZenPhone removing it has always caused me major issues.
