Introduction

I've always been fascinated by gadgets and gizmos, but it's always been fancy hardware that has really been my passion. Sure I've looked forward to OS releases and...

Re: Review: SpB Mobile Shell 3

My only other comments on this great piece of software is that on the call history log, and i have noticed it does take a little longer to boot up my device (probably 5/10 secs, i have an orbit2).

I like to keep contact numbers on the sim card but then intergrate a certain few say a home, mobile number & email address as one contact on the phone itself. So in my contacts menu i'd get this:

Joe Bloggs - 07890123456, 01234123456, email
S-Joe Bloggs/M - #07890123456
S-Joe Bloggs/H - #01234123456

The reasoning is in case i put my sim in another phone (so my numbers would be available, and only need to take the # off the number) and so any ringtone assigned to the phone contact would work (as if i left # off it would ring the default ringtone).

The issue/problem (which is minor) I now with Mobile Shell 3 Call history is that if I call Joe Bloggs (07980123456) through MS contacts list the name and number will show correctly on the call history log. This is where it is strange, the picture i have assigned to the Joe Bloggs contact doesn't appear next to the name & number (which is showing correct). When i click this call log entry it takes me to the contact S-Joe Bloggs/M. The send sms and MMS say #07980123456 but the Mobile tab at the bottom says 07980123456. I expect that the call history log obviously works on the number and have tried various combinations to change the phone number on the sim contact without any luck. Can anyone help with my issue?

I can see you also have Orbit 2 - just one question.. On Spb Shell 3 I can't see the operator name the way I can see it on Spb Shell 2 in the top right corner next to the Data transfer mode (E,G...). Is it just me doing something wrong or it has been removed altogether? It's an important functionality for me as I use roaming quite often.

no I can't see it either. I think I read on spb forums that this was an issue that other people had noticed also.

Re: Review: SpB Mobile Shell 3

I've just downloaded the trial version and loaded it on to my Touch Diamond2 and have a couple of issues.
Yesterday in the calendar I created an appointment. I then deleted it but it still showed in the calendar. Nothing I did seemed to get rid of it. Then this morning it had gone.
The second issue is a biggie for me.When I press the phone button, or start the phone app, I get the usual screen with recent calls at the top and the keypad below. It's at this point that I usually select the "contacts" option at the bottom to bring up the list of contacts so I can select who to dial. It just does nothing. I can't bring up the list of contacts. Now I have to bring up the contacts from the start page and find my contact that way.
Any ideas?
I'm on the trial version and as impressive as the software is, if I can't fix this then I'm going back to Touchflo.

There are a couple of things to try:

1) Go Start/Settings/Today and uncheck TouchFlo3D (or whatever its currently called!)

2) Do a soft reset. I think the reset button on the TD2 is under the battery cover.

I checked the touchflo - it is already unchecked. I've done several soft resets with no change.
It's been chewing up battery life since I installed it, but have just checked my wifi and for some reason the wifi power mode had reset itself to best performance. Knocked it back to best battery so hopefully that will fix it.

Re: Review: SpB Mobile Shell 3

Just had a look around the SpB forum and apparently it's a known problem which they are looking in to. Same problem exists on the Touch Pro 2 also. Until they get a fix for it then I'll stay with Touchflo.
Thanks

I've added my playlists to the shortcut menu, but when I try to add the to my lifestyle screen by adding a widget, I can't select them. They don't appear on the list of widgets to choose from.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm afraid I haven't used playlists yet. Maybe one of the other folks?

Re: Review: SpB Mobile Shell 3

Hi, I recently purchased the M900 as a spur of the moment thing and was really pleased with it. I love chunky and having big hands it handles lovely. I love the keyboard and once you get used to the various buttons and how to get different symbols, like ' then it is a pleasure to own. Anyway I had an issue which I'll post on another thread.

Back to SPB shell. I read this article and downloaded it last night and installed it without a hitch. Probably a first for me! Anyway, my first impression was how fast everything had become. The touch screen had become so much more responsive, just like the iPhone. Also the build is now 3.5.

Thanks for the article. Splendid.

Peter.
