Order of posts in a thread

Unlike every other forums I've been using for a while ; 4winmobile forums displays with the last post first.

This is extremely annoying and not useful at all (it's just impossible to create bookmarks to a specific page as it keeps changing).

Is there a way to make it so first post is located in the first page?

Thanks
Jean-Yves

Hello Jean-Yves

Yes there is a way to do what you want, and customise quite a lot of other things too.
Start by selecting "User CP" on the row of horizontal buttons at the top of the page.
On the User Control Panel page that is displayed pick "Edit Options" from the list on the extreme left.
The Edit Options page has panels in it; go to the one titled "Thread Display Options" (third on my list, but I'm not sure my list is the same as yours because I'm a mod).
The Thread Display Options includes "Thread Display Mode". I use "Linear - Oldest First" and that is the one you want as well.

Incidentally the same panel allows you to control:
- how many posts per page (more means pages are slower to load but there are less pages)
- age of threads to show (the default is just the last day, which is a bit short for many people)
- enter the PDAs that you have owned
And there's loads more useful stuff on that page and the other choices available in User CP.

Good question, I bet lots of people wanted to know that, so I'm making this thread sticky.

Great. Thank you.

I had looked in the linear mode options located in the top right menu bar ; without any lock.

IMO, this option should be set by default ; far more useful that way. Also allows correct caching from google

I'm not sure why it was coming up newest first for you. For me it was always oldest first. What about other members? I'd particularly like to hear from members who aren't moderators.

Re: Order of posts in a thread

When I first signed up with the 4winmobile community it always showed the newest post first and the oldest last. After a few days use I switched it to oldest first, I thought it was just something that I accidently changed when registering for the forum...Currently I'm still using it showing oldest post first!

Re: Order of posts in a thread

I had never been in the User CP page before , and it was showing as oldest first. I wouldn't make up something like this !

Re: Order of posts in a thread

I'm trying to find out if there's a general problem to fix here, or just something weird happened to one person. The intention is oldest first as default for everyone. Afraid I have no idea why it was different for just you Jean-Yves. We do believe you!
