I disabled both "Receive emails from members" AND "Receive emails of Admin" and yet I still get this extremely annoying email:

I ask that you PLEASE STOP SENDING IT. If I'm not going to post here every month or even every year, so what? Delete my account if you think I've been inactive too long. Don't keep emailing me. It is incredibly annoying, and there seems to be no way to stop this unwanted email. No matter the context I hear this site, I have always thought of it as "that site that keeps spamming me to come to their site." It is incredibly annoying and horrible for your reputation.

W do find it useful to bring back innactive users. However I've just increased the settings dramatically which should reduce the number of emails sent.

I will hold my hand up and say the "reminder" emails did prompt me to come back to the site - so yes they work for some. What would help is if the news had a working RSS feed attached to it - I gave up with the complicated advice on the site to set it up.

The RSS feed was broken for a while, but it is working again now. Go to the Forum link at the top of the page. The list of forums now has an orange and white RSS logo against each forum. For me, using Windows Vista and Opera 9, I just click on that link to get a dialog asking me whether to subscribe, I say yes and the feed is subscribed. Give it another try nanofiend.
