Re: Support us using Navizon

Well it was a failure today!

For some reason the Orbit2 failed to acquire a fix at all. The GPS started but was still searching after 30 minutes . No time to investigate further yet.

Very strange hope it's not developed a fault!

Re: Support us using Navizon

No- not sure what happened, but tried again today, watching signal bars on CPL7, and it was all OK again in about 3 minutes.

Possibly another black mark for QGPS? I'd hard reset and forgot to disable QGPS. Todays effective full cold start in open air seemed to fix it.

Re: Support us using Navizon

I thought I'd get lots of points for a trip over the Pennines and around Leeds and Bradford on Saturday. But as usual car travel is too fast, so that only netted a disappointing 1200 points even though I found 55 unmapped cell towers. However 3 hours cycling on Sunday afternoon around South Manchestr and Cheshire found me loads of APs to net another 3500 points. So third reward is on its way to the site as a donation, and I'm already 30% of the way to the 4th one.
Keep expecting to run out of new APs or places to go, but it still hasn't happened.

Re: Support us using Navizon

It is certainly helping Steph, I racked up a few more points myself tonight via going into central Manchester.

Not seen that reward come through yet though?

Re: Support us using Navizon

The reward went to the same email address as the previous ones. Navizon do warn it may take a day or two to reach the destination account. It's less than 24 hours since I claimed, so I assume it's somewhere in the system and should arrive later.

Re: Support us using Navizon

Also installed now and have run it twice
PointsWifi discovered by you 172 516
Cell towers discovered by you 10 150
Wifi already mapped 250 250
Cell towers already mapped 12 24
Total:940

being in a rural area everything is a bit thin on the ground - but there appears to be a few major gaps in the market.

Will try get up early and do a run via Wells (a complete blank there!)

Just a thought - how about a sticky in GPS forum with just the group stats ? We can all see how we are all helping on a weekly basis. A locked post with just the current status and link to this one if people want to comment.

Re: Support us using Navizon

Will see what I can do as time permits, things are a bit problematical here at the moment!
