Re: Support us using Navizon

Crikey that is some power drain Steph! Was it the device's first charge, if so it may improve with subsequent charges.

That was my Trinity!
The drain was so extreme that I thought the Trinity battery monitor could be playing up. However the length of time it took to recharge was consistent with 30%. It had been on charge all night so was definitely fully charged to start with.

One thought is that the Wifi comms manager kept jingling and popping up choices of networks to connect to, thus bringing the screen on full, not dimmed. Is there any way to keep Wifi on without this?
Do I in fact need to turn Wifi and GPS on, or does starting Navizon do that anyway?

Re: Support us using Navizon

navizon keeps asking me to start wi-fi.... But I assumed it took control after that. I'll be running it on the Ameo on the train tomorrow, so I guess I better find a seat with a power socket!! Hopefully that will generate quite a few points...

In which case I live in WLAN land. 2 miles total to work and back, got 139 new APNs and 34 existing, plus 5 cell sites.

On the battery front, coming home I took a shorter route. Battery went down from 90% to 50% in 6 minutes of Navizon. But I plugged it into the charger and battery went back up to 80% almost immediately. Weird. But later when I go to the swimming pool (7 miles there and back) it'll have to be cells only.

Re: Support us using Navizon

Ouch, the battery level is helped within Navizon app by choosing the leftmahd menu option to turn off wifi popups.

We're getting there though!

Re: Support us using Navizon

Interesting figures- due to power problems today, my 100 minute journey took 300 minutes by train.

I had the Orbit 2 on the whole time with Wifi , 3G and GPS and the oower webt from 100% to 50%, so pretty impressive .

To suppress the access point pop ups, open options , select Extras on the left soft keykey then untick WiFi Popups.

Thats on the main screen- open Options first, then you will see the Extras link on the LH soft key

Home now, and some interesting (!) observations- detour this morning via Cambridge then to Kings Cross on Great Northern train- picked up GPS signal all the way. Top deck of bus- signal OK

This evening- lower deck of bus- no signal (maybe expected) then back home on usual West Anglia train, and no GPS signal at all So, are the older West Anglia trains more substantially built? Tried with Orbit2 and Ameo. As soon as I got off the train, both picked up signal within 20 seconds

Oh- and I don't like Navizon's intrusive startup behaviour. I have it set to manage power and Sync manually, but even so, every time I open the program, it places its link back in Windows/Startup.

Yep I got him by that start up shortcut reappearing yesterday - very annoying it is too. Even with manage power turned off it still seems to reappear.

Re: Support us using Navizon

..yes it's caused the Orbits2's battery to totally flatten today In the course of testing today, I had the device power settings turned completely to manual, with the screen at its lowest, and later, using the Record Button mapped to Pocket Plus's Screen Off function. That way, it stayed powered on for the whole of my bus journey from Kings cross to Southwark with the screen off, and for the previous 2.5hours with the screen alive and set low.

I assumed that Navizon would remain off once I'd stopped it, and didnt check after I'd done a soft reset to clear a Three signal glitch. I must have turned teh screen off with the PP Screen Off, but of course Navizon remained open with GPS and WiFi on. Mid afternoon got the Critical battery chime and it turned off completely. Luckily I had a USB charger with me
