Re: Support us using Navizon
I found the Wifi popup thingie myself, and sorted it before I went out last night. On the way to swimming I didn't turn WiFi on when the little notice came up in Navizon, so it tracked cell towers only on the way there, with no noticeable additional power drain. On the way home I turned Navizon on again, but without me knowing this time it managed to get control of wireless, with the result that in 15 minutes I got a main battery low warning, and by the time I'd stopped somewhere safe to stop Navizon and turn the device off it was down to 5% power! So the problem is using wireless, but I don't know whether that's Navizon or my device generally.
Interesting though that I can trace my route home on their coverage maps by the little line of wireless routers - there isn't anyone else mapping round here not on the main roads. Found some cell towers too.
So either I find a way to stop Navizon grabbing wireless, or I'll have to stop using it for all but the shortest journeys. I'll let it do Wifi on the way to work this morning, I've done the direct southernmost route and the usual indirect northerly route so far, but there's another indirect route between these two so I'll go that way to work. Device can then charge while I'm in a meeting.

Re: Support us using Navizon
I've got the Ameo plugged into power on the train at the moment, I didn't want to risk having no battery by the time I reach London!!

Re: Support us using Navizon
Well Navizon didn't warn me it couldn't track Wifi, so I didn't turn wireless on, but judging by the lack of power drain Navizon didn't manage to turn wireless on itself.

Re: Support us using Navizon
Well controlling Navizon's power use isn't easy. It seems to be able to grab the Wifi and turn it on even when the warning has been shown. The way to do it is to uncheck the box for 'allow Navizon to control power' and ensure that Wifi is off. That is the only way I have found to allow using Navizon to track cells only - including uninstall, remove all traces and reinstall!
But even then Navizon is power hungry. About half an hour's cell only tracking usage seems to take 30% or so off the battery level on my Trinity, using 30 second intervals. So although I was out in the countryside today in territory which may not yet have been covered so would have been rich pickings, I didn't dare leave Navizon switched on. All I can do is to switch Navizon on now and then, let it find the cells where I am, then turn it off again.
I was going to see if this is some kind of problem with my Trinity's battery, but reading the other reports in this thread I don't think so.

Re: Support us using Navizon
Would be interested to know how long Navizon is active for and how many cells/APs it detects as well as the battery drop. I'm wondering if I'm picking up more results which takes more battery - but I don't see why I should get more than other people in big cities.
