Re: Support us using Navizon
Just did a test. Ameo fully charged at the start of a 25minute journey to the ballpark with Navizon set for both AP's & Cells.... When we arrived at the ballpark, my battery indicator was still showing 100%.... 27 AP's found & 6 cells.....

My numbers are so much higher.
Just used Navizon to the swimming pool and back from work, one mile each way by slightly different routes, about 12 minutes. With 3G switched off I got:
151 new APs
no new cell towers
53 APs already mapped
9 cell towers already mapped
Plus there will be more cells and APs that I got credit for on previous journeys.
That took 20% out of my battery (90% to 70%).
My guess is that finding so many more cells and APs eats my battery. So I shall continue to use Navizon in selective bursts, when I know I can recharge at my destination.

Re: Support us using Navizon
Sounds like a good plan Steph, out here in the sticks, I guess not as many people have wi-fi..... I found a good deal more in London....
On the way back, I found 55 APNs, 10 Cells I think and the battery didn't move from its 90% that I started the journey on. 151 new APs in 12 minutes, thats an enormous amount!!

Re: Support us using Navizon
My record was on Saturday, driving too / from visiting my folks. Over 400+ APNs detected.

Re: Support us using Navizon
1st journey with Navizon....it seems that north of Manchester and the M62 corridor are largely unmapped by Navizon users:
Wifi discovered by you 84 mapped, 252 points
Cell towers discovered by you 67 mapped, 1005 points
Wifi already mapped 66 mapped, 66 points
Cell towers already mapped 9 mapped, 18 points
Total: 1341 points
WiFi AP discovered by you: 3 Points
Cell Tower discovered by you: 15 Points
Wifi already mapped: 1 Point
Cell tower already mapped: 2 Points
It wouldn't take long long to rack up the points doing 35,000 pa.....

Re: Support us using Navizon
Cheers muchly for that It's amazing how much the stats are growing with a few of us collecting data. I'm amazed you found that many unmapped cells though!

Re: Support us using Navizon
My business travel is down at the moment, the usual year-end cost saving, if only this had been around a few months ago! !

Hee hee, I love the fact that Steph has the most points and mostly done by pedal power!

Re: Support us using Navizon
@jim: Same here, before Xmas, I was everywhere...since then I've worked mainly from home...doh!
I was amazed by the way, how many unsecured wireless networks I came across on the M62... you could park on the hard shoulder and browse for free....bit dangerous of course!!
