Well for me, most software is installed on my microSD card so really the only way it could slow down my device is if it is running all at the same time. (At least I'd think that would be the only way it could slow down my device)
And that's why it's very important to have a good task manager! By default pressing the X button closes my applications, except for a few programs I want to keep running in the background (I select them myself, they are the Messages app, my RSS reader and my Twitter application). And as part of my daily backups my device gets a soft reset every morning before I wake up so everything is fresh when I start the day.

You might want to check the Vito website, they've got something nice as well. And I think I have to do some searching on the SBSH website!

I've tried PocketInformant, AgendaFusion and Extreme Agenda and of the three, I preferred PocketInformant. However, it does way too much for me and I feel that it is slower (both in starting and performing actions). It may have much more features which makes it way better than the built-in app (certainly if you ask the developer, Alex Kac!) but for me the built-in app fits my needs better.

Re: How many apps

Re: PIM.

I'm with SPMWinkle. PI does way too much too slowly and has a habit of killing my devices. I find the combination of desktop outlook, exchange synch and Pocket Breeze suits my needs perfectly. Data entry is largely done from the desktop and synched over. I can then manage everthing from the today screen in PB using the DPad. Data entry on the device is fairly minimal and I find PocketOutlook works just fine.

Oh, and even with all of those apps (possibly excepting GoogleMaps) installed to the device I still have 54% memory free after a reboot. And the device backs itself up and reboots every day.

Re: How many apps

Strange I find PI is fast enough in operation, no lagging or problems at all here. For me I have to use third party apps to manage my PIM duties as the standard tasks application is just not meaty enough to get the job done.

Re: How many apps

Ah, well I don't use Outlook tasks at all. I stick with ListPro for that. Maybe if I spent more time on PI I'd find a way of integrating it that was less obtrusive but, so far, having installed it on three separate occasions over the last few years, it has always killed my device to the point I've had to rebuild from scratch.

Re: How many apps

Good to know I'm not the only one who is so scared to keep .cab files on my Storage card. In case of an unexpected hard reset and backup failure (or just if I want to try an app again) I always keep the .cab file on my microSD card.

I will give some of the games of your list a try, never heard of the MS games...

Re: How many apps

try this link for more information about the Microsoft Games Pack (and here for the MS MarketPlace info - but they show incorrect picture there).

Although it was for older devices (I originally had them for Pocket PC 2003, but they work fine on my Kaiser).

Re: How many apps

50 apps in the list (I couldn't count them without getting a headache so I copied and pasted the list into an Excel spreadhsheet ) plus the 3 betas gives us 53 apps ladies and gentlement.

So, who wants to call Guinness Records?
