Re: uBook - what do you want?

The problem with adding new formats is usually runs likethis: uBook was developped originaly for unit with a little amount of memory so everything is written to work with a small window of the data at a time (a few characters, one image line, etc...) and some formats, like RAR need huge amount of memory to decompress and sometimes forces you to decompress the whole file before applying some more codecs, etc... That philosophy doesn't work ith uBook. PDF have the issue of having the data scattered in the file and the characters not even ordered on the page.

As for the Delete, I know what you mean, and will advise for next release.
Unicode is planned for a much needed second generation of uBook, but not before the code base is changed, so 2010, maybe.

Re: uBook - what do you want?

Not likely, as I have decided 7 years ago never to... long story, bought some books, after two new computers got locked out of my own books, got denied new computer licenses, blah blah blah, uBook is meant to be the open format only platform... And there are good tools out there for transformation. Making good on the new UI though... Some screen captures soon!

Ah well a pity that, I'll have to continue to use cLit to convert then!

Re: uBook - what do you want?

Odd request this,

but would it be possible to cause ubook to save the book in raw txt format.

Why?

Well I read ebooks on just about everything and some platforms only work with txt files.

I could use one of the ABC programs by ProcessText, if my computer was running windows. I can't get their programs to run under Wine.

It wouldn't matter how crude the result was.

Re: uBook - what do you want?

It has already been asked for but I will add my vote for full ePub support.

Re: uBook - what do you want?

I second the request for epub support. I'm using calibre to convert my books to epub format, and it's frustrating not to be able to use ubook to read them.

Cheers, Carl.

Re: uBook - what do you want?

I've got a slider phone (htc fuze), and I tend to leave uBook running in the background. Every time I slide the phone open or closed it repaginates, which kills my battery life, especially when I have a large book open. I never read books sideways, so if we could either get an option to force uBook to stay in portrait or landscape mode, or prevent it from repaginating unless it's in the foreground, I would much appreciate it!

Additional details: I'm running WM 6.5, if that makes a difference.

Thanks, great software!!!

Re: uBook - what do you want?

How about a version of uBook for the Blackberry? My company just switched from cell phones to Blackberry for the extra email connectivity.
