Re: uBook - what do you want?

easisest would be to set the data files to be saved into the "my documents" folder and turn the filesync on... same on the PC, or atleast the abilty to set the path for the book status files...

If MS fix the file sync of course.... Plus you'd need to be able to set a base library path which would vary between PC and PDA.

Re: uBook - what do you want?

I never had any problems with the file sync, and I'm using a few apps like this... also the ability to set the lib folder manually would be a makeshift sync...

True, we'll have to catch Davids thoughts when he returns on site I guess.

Re: uBook - what do you want?

Sorry all, I've been 'away' for many different reasons, but I the end was just too tired at the end of the day. (tired, lazy, semantics...)

As for sync'hing, that isn't something I want to tackle, with uBook_books.ini and uBook_images.ini being a dumping ground of data lacking any time tags... My bad design, I am designing a rebuild phase for 2009, so maybe things like that may be addressed. First step is having a portable code base, something that I can transform to C, Objective-C, Java or ActionScript with just the push of a button. I know, I am dreaming, but this way I can have an Android, iPhone, SmartPhone version for each release. We'll see...

Good luck as always David. What language are you developing in at the moment?

Re: uBook - what do you want?

All of uBook is in C, some parts have been ported to JAVA for other projects. Basically the goal is to move almost all to JAVA, adding a dummy 'delete' function for memory handling on non garbage collection languages, then create a Translator to other languages (which I have the skeleton done already). C might become C++...

Re: uBook - what do you want?

Hi Folks, new to the forum but I've been using µbook for several years. I keep a cd with an old Windows version and several hundred Ebooks in my car at all times so I can just slip it into the nearest computer as I wander around. Now I have an HP 4350 that I am trying it out on and have been reading this thread with great interest.

My desires so far?

1) I would love to see RSVP in µbook. I use RSVP in several formats to improve my speed reading and my son uses it to learn speed reading.

2) This may be a RFTM issue, but I would like to map one button to flip the orientation when I change hands.

3) I would like to know what "µ" is... what is it's name and how do you pronounce it and why is it used in the name of this ebook reader?

Not knowing leaves me calling it "You Book", which may be correct, but I would like to know... (Edit: Maybe that should be "Myou book"?)

Thanks for a great product all these years and probably thanks for the new version when I register it.
