Asus Eee Pc
I've unfortunately given into temptation and ordered an Asus eee pc (4gb).
I saw one in the flesh last week and after much pondering i couldn't resist.
Just thought i'd see if any other 4winners had one and which must do mods they have done?
I'm thinking install XP to a 16gb sd card and maybe buy a touch screen which fits to the web cam port.

Re: Asus Eee Pc
Nice one, they tested one on Channel 5's Gadget Show last week and it done well considering it was against the Mac Air and the Sony Vaio!
Let us know how you get on and we will have some pics please.

Re: Asus Eee Pc
Funnily enough someone at work was talking about that show earlier. They hadn't realised i was on the payment page of the site i got it from as they were talking.
They said the mac didn't do to well though?
For the money and the OS possibilities it sounds too good to be true. Alhough i had a quick go the other day i didn't really put it through any paces.
I' gonna try it with the xandros for the 14 day trial first to see how i get on with it.

Re: Asus Eee Pc
Must have software mods include something to overclock and to give you an 800x600 screen (albeit by dropping pixels but it's still readable). Ensure you get a fast SD card. I tried to stick with the Linux, honest I did... but gave up and switched to XP.

They reckoned on the Mac being slow at what it did.

Re: Asus Eee Pc
I must admit the form factor of the Mac is something else though, it is so thin!

Re: Asus Eee Pc
The distro of linux i'm playing with even has an eee installer on it.
If i was a rich man i'd have a mac air but i can't justify the price for the spec.
They are easy on the eye though.

Re: Asus Eee Pc
Well the place i ordered my eee from are now out of stock and very apologetic that i didn't get mine.
Have just ordered one from additions at a reasonable £230 delivered so fingers crossed this one turns up. Was hoping to have it to use on this months run of night shifts but too late was the cry.
This seems a bit more comlex than i thought:-
And this is just showing off:-
There are a few interesting videos on youtube of it running ubuntu gutsy gibbon too that are worth a look.
