Re: O2 XDA Orbit WM6 Upgrade FAQ

Well, at least you have a working device again, Tony!

Something strange happening on the Vista lappy by the sounds of it....

Re: O2 XDA Orbit WM6 Upgrade FAQ

well i wont be using vista again to flash devices. i actually prefer xp but you know when you get a new laptop you do not get any choice. Now that my xda is flashed it is behaving weird when i take out the battery (when i put a new micro sd card) the thing will not save the time and date, any ideas ?

thanks

Re: O2 XDA Orbit WM6 Upgrade FAQ

To be honest, I've not really checked as I rarely take out the Storage Card, unless I'm flashing the ROM.

I'll drop my battery out and see if it happens.....

Just tried it and it retained the time......

I wonder if there is a small backup battery in there and yours has failed? Do you regularly let it discharge the main battery? If so that may be the reason. The batteries are best recharged before they get below 10% and ideally kept topped up on mains. USB charging sometimes doesn't provide enough juice so regular mains is needed every couple of charges to keep things tip-top!

Re: O2 XDA Orbit WM6 Upgrade FAQ

i thought i would try again today see if the date and time problem had been resolved, but no, i also i noticed that none of my other settings change. i.e the alarm stays the same, the themes stay the same the time and date are the only things to get reset. very strange indeed

Re: O2 XDA Orbit WM6 Upgrade FAQ

Hi Tony and thank you for this very helpful post. I have just ordered an xda orbit via a reputable ebay seller and I wondered if you would be kind enough to offer a newcomer some advice? The xda I have ordered will be supplied with WM5 and is unlocked (I plan to use it with my Vodafone sim), from reading through this forum and in particular a post from a gentleman that intended to use an irish o2 sim, would I be correct in thinking that by upgrading to WM6 via the official o2 rom the phone will remain unlocked? Thanks again for the informative post, Jim.

Re: O2 XDA Orbit WM6 Upgrade FAQ

As Tony is not around at the moment I will answer for you, upgrading to WM6 will still allow you to use a Vodafone sim as the Orbit is sim unlocked anyway. You will just need to change your operator settings to Vodafone using a cab file for either PAYG or contract, I have given you links to both (just click on them to download), I hope that helps.

Vodafone Contract

Vodafone PAYT
