On the StrTrk when adding a new GPRS connection the following options are available....
'Connects to' (Secure WAP/WAP/Work/Internet)
'Access Point' (Text box for address)
'Username' (self explanatory)
'Password' (ditto)
'Primary DNS' (Text box)
'Secondary DNS' (Text box)
'IP Address' (Text box)
If I follow the set up details for O2 PAYG in the FAQ there is nowhere for me to insert the socks and proxy settings etc....
The O2 website can't send a text message out to the StrTrk (or derivatives) either as it isn't listed under the devices.
Reason I am trying to sort it out is the Windows Mobile Live Beta to which I have been accepted.
Cheers,

Re: Q: What are the UK & ROI GPRS settings for Web. WAP,
Once you've put in the connection settings you can then setup the proxy stuff back at the connections applet.

Re: Q: What are the UK & ROI GPRS settings for Web. WAP,
GAH!
Help please.
I have a new Vodafone 1605.
After a lot of trial and error I finally managed to get my PDA to active sync with exchange from the web but for some reason it only works over the WAP connection. I have to manually connect to WAP from within the connection manager and only then will it sync over. If I dont switch WAP on it tries to connect via GPRS/3G, connects to the server, scans for changes and shows the summary (Email 0/1) for example but then doesnt actually sync the info accross. Once it has synced via WAP the push functionality works perfectly on an ongoing basis.
This afternoon I hard reset the device to get rid of all the vodafone rubbish and used this guide to set up the connection items manually.
I active synced via exchange/USB first at my desk like youre supposed to do, and then on the phone changed the address from local to the remote one we use to log into our company website just as before but even the WAP connection wont let me active sync or get "'push". Like before it sees there are items to change and gives you a summary but doesnt sync them over.
FYI we are running SBS with all the latest updates/service packs etc that enable "push" technology and as I said it works (sort of) using the vodafone default installed connection settings but when I skip those CAB files installing it after a hard reset it just wont have it.
Any ideas please?
Thanks in advance.
Simon

Re: Q: What are the UK & ROI GPRS settings for Web. WAP,
Hi SHomer,
When I set mine up I never use the USB sync at all. For my initial sync I setup the connection for GPRS (never bothered setting for WAP unless I want to use MMS. ) and then connect to google. Next I add a server in the Active Sync applet on the phone. Once done it goes and connects. Job done. If you're using the V1605 and you've got a decent 3G connection it'll sync in no time at all.
Are you certain you have the GPRS settings entered correctly?
Which service provider are you using?

Re: Q: What are the UK & ROI GPRS settings for Web. WAP,
Im on Vodafone business.
Pretty sure I entered all the settings correctly.
Interestingly I just hopped on my wireless network at home and it synced like a dream. It just wont do it over GPRS.
Also im having issues with my general signal strength. The icon on the top is permanantly a big "U" and the signal strength is zero - I always get 3-4 bars at home. Earlier it was a "G" and it was ok, I have seen it with a "3" sometimes. What is it that dictates this? Shouldnt the phone keep trying different methods till it finds something that works?
I cant even make calls now - so annoying.
Simon
edit-- randomly the G just appeared in place of the U with 4 bars. I re-did the GPRS settings (havent created a WAP setting) and I can connect to google, bbc.co.uk etc fine. I try to active sync and it sees that I have some emails to sync from work but it just doesnt suck the data over.

The U indicates the machine is trying to get a 3G connection and not doing very well, so it drops back down to a standard GPRS connection giving you the 4 bars. You need to go into phone settings and turn it onto the GPRS band only, which should get around the problem.

Re: Q: What are the UK & ROI GPRS settings for Web. WAP,
The 3 you saw was part of the changes in the vodafone ROM. They have changed the U to a 3G icon for some reason.
I'm wondering if you may have had some kind of GPRS issue during your first sync and now your AS is defaulted to the WAP connection. Have you tried removing the server source and recreating it?

It seems to take ages to switch from the U back to the G - over an hour last night - I thought this was instant?
Where in the phone settings do I dictate whether it uses GPRS or 3g/GPRS? Do you mean when I set up the internet connection? I havent tried setting up an exclusive GPRS connection, I always choose the Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G) setting. At the moment it is sat with a big G and a small G hovering over 3 bars and it still wont sync. I hit sync, it says "looking for changes" and then finishes without syncing.

Dave
I tried this last night and still no joy - I dont even have a WAP connection configured now so it will only try to use the GPRS and still no joy. Im guessing I have set it up correctly because I can access the web no problem.
