It seems to take ages to switch from the U back to the G - over an hour last night - I thought this was instant?
Where in the phone settings do I dictate whether it uses GPRS or 3g/GPRS? Do you mean when I set up the internet connection? I havent tried setting up an exclusive GPRS connection, I always choose the Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G) setting. At the moment it is sat with a big G and a small G hovering over 3 bars and it still wont sync. I hit sync, it says "looking for changes" and then finishes without syncing.

The problem is that if it's got the slightest bit of "U" it'll try to hold on to it. It's a difficult one really. You don't want to completely disable 3G because you want it to use 3G when you do get a good signal.

I'm wondering if you may have had some kind of GPRS issue during your first sync and now your AS is defaulted to the WAP connection. Have you tried removing the server source and recreating it?

Dave
I tried this last night and still no joy - I dont even have a WAP connection configured now so it will only try to use the GPRS and still no joy. Im guessing I have set it up correctly because I can access the web no problem.

It's a little strange alright. Did you say you were running without the Vodafone Ext ROM installed?

Re: Q: What are the UK & ROI GPRS settings for Web. WAP,
Yes - I hard reset the device then soft reset it at the 10 second warning.
Its been on G all day now and still wont sync.

Hi Guys - quick update on this for you.
I have managed to get the push/remote active sync working without the Ext Rom.
A colleague of mine had a v1605 delivered so I checked his connection settings using the Ext ROM and I noticed a small difference on the WAP settings compared to the guide above.
When you configure the WAP settings the guide mentions you need to configure the WAP and SOCKS server settings but the vodafone defaults also have a setting for HTTP. 212.183.137.12 port 8799.
I added this and now I can get pushed mail from our exchange server at work and do a remote active sync with it.
I do still have the issue that all this only works if I dont have any GPRS setting configured, so this is still an issue as any web connection related action is going entirely over WAP.
Does anyone else have any ideas?
I would appreciate it if someone could tell me step by step how they set up their device to handle push email without installing the Ext vodafone ROM.
Thanks!
Simon

Re: Q: What are the UK & ROI GPRS settings for Web. WAP,
Are you using Exch SP2 as your mail server?
I've been using push on the v1605 without the ext ROM since day 2 of owning the device. The first week I only had GPRS configured.

Re: Q: What are the UK & ROI GPRS settings for Web. WAP,
It's really weird because mine is definitley going over 3G. When I setup my device for the first time sync in a 3G area it takes about 1 minute to do a couple of hundred contacts and about 50 emails.

Re: Q: What are the UK & ROI GPRS settings for Web. WAP,
I know its doing my head in...
What would really help is a step by step walkthrough for all your settings dave as if you were re-creating the connection just to check I have everything set up correctly.
If you could spare the time that would be great - duplucating those at the top of the topic hasnt worked thus far but then again there were some settings missing from the WAP section anyways.

What service provider are you using?
