FAQ - How to Hard Reset your WM Device (by device type)

Spotted on Smartphone & Pocket PC Magazine - too good to lose.

Hard Resetting Your Windows Mobile Device

Note: Hard resetting the device will cause the device to be reset back to its original factory default settings and all data and installed programs will be lost. Disconnect the unit from AC power. Use your stylus when it states below, “Press the Reset Button”.

ACER N50

Hold down the today and the mail buttons. Simultaneously press the reset button.

ACER N300

Hold down the HOME and the IN BOX buttons. Simultaneously press the reset button for about 2 seconds.

Asus A632 - A636

Hold down the power button and press in the reset button for about 6 seconds.

BenQ P50 - BenQ/Siemens P51

Hold down the power button and press in the reset button with your stylus for about 6 seconds. Once the screen fades, press the power button again to activate the unit.

Dell Axim X3 - X3i - X30

Press and hold the power button while you press the reset button for about 6 seconds. Release both buttons and you will see a confirmation screen asking you if you would like to clear all data in memory. Then press the Contacts button. To cancel, press the Mail button.

Dell Axim x50 - x50v - x51 - x51v

Turn the device ON. Press and hold the power button while you press the reset button for about 6 seconds. Release both buttons and you will see a confirmation screen asking you if you would like to clear all data in memory. Then press the Contacts button. To cancel, press the Mail button.

ETEN M500

Hold down the power button and then press the reset button for about 6 seconds.

ETEN M600

Hold down the power button and the (CTRL - ALT!) button simultaneously and then press the reset button for about 2 seconds. Then release all buttons at the same time.

Fujitsu Siemens Loox N560

Press & hold the power & calender button, then press & release the reset button. Continue to hold the power & calender buttons for a few seconds. When you release the power & calender buttons the unit should beep & then reset.

HP iPAQ h1900 Series (1910 - 1915 - 1930 - 1935 - 1940 - 1945) - HP iPAQ h6300 Series (6310 - 6315)

Hold down the power button and press the reset button about 6 seconds.

HP iPAQ h2000 Series (2210 - 2215)

Hold down the Calendar and iTask buttons, and then press the reset button on the for about 6 seconds. After the screen fades, release all buttons. You can verify the hard reset by pressing the power button. If the device does not power on, then you have successfully reset you unit. Now you can connect iPAQ to the AC power or press the reset button again with your stylus.

HP iPAQ h5000 Series (5450 - 5550 - 5555) - HP iPAQ h3800 Series (3830 - 3835 - 3850 - 3855 - 3870 - 3875)

Hold down the calendar and iTask buttons, and then press the reset button for about 6 seconds. After the screen fades, you can verify the hard reset by pressing the power button. If the device does not power on, then you have successfully reset your unit. Now you can connect the iPAQ to the AC power or press the reset button again with your stylus.

HP iPAQ hw6500 Mobile Messenger Series (6510 - 6515), iPAQ hx2000 Series (2410 - 2415 - 2710 - 2715) and HP iPAQ hx4700 - hx4705

Hold down the calendar and iTask buttons, and then press the reset button for about 6 seconds. The Pocket PC should reset and power back on. If the device does not power back on, make sure that the battery lock switch is set to the left.

HP rw6828 - O2 XDA Atom - O2 XDA Atom Pure

Press the reset button with your stylus, then press the power ON/OFF button at the same time. A confirmation screen should ask you to press the green call and the red end call buttons together.

HP iPAQ rz1700 Series (1710 - 1715)

Hold the Mobile Media and the Today buttons, then press reset button for about 4 seconds. To confirm, press the power button. If the device does not turn on then you have successfully hard reset you device. Now you can connect the iPAQ to the AC power or press the reset button again with your stylus.

HP iPAQ rx3115 - rx3715

Hold down on the far left (Mobile Media and the iTask buttons then press the reset button for about 6 seconds.

HTC Apache - Sprint PPC-6700 - Verizon XV6700

Hold both the softkeys (buttons with “-“ on them), push the reset button once. Release just the reset button while still holding onto the softkeys. A confirmation screen should appear asking you if you want to reset all data. Press Y to reset, and N to cancel.

HTC Blue Angel - i-mate PDA2K - Siemens SX66 - T-Mobile MDA III

While holding down the power button press in on the reset button (reset hole) with your stylus for about 6 seconds.
HTC Blue Angel - i-mate PDA2K - Siemens SX66 - T-Mobile MDA III

While holding down the power button press in on the reset button (reset hole) with your stylus for about 6 seconds.

HTC Kaiser - TyTn II - T-Mobile Vario III

Press and hold the Left & Right SOFT KEYs and at the same time use the stylus to press the RESET button. Release the stylus but keep pressing the SOFT KEYS until you see the Hard Reset warning screen. Release the SOFT KEYS and then press the LEFT PHONE KEY.

A software option is also available. Start> Settings> System> Clear Storage.
Type 1234 in the box and tap YES.

HTC Polaris - HTC Touch Cruise - O2 Orbit 2

To hard reset hold in the Windows and OK buttons while inserting the stylus into the reset hole at the bottom, release the stylus straight away while continuing to hold in the buttons, now follow the onscreen instructions.

A software option is also available. Start> Settings> System> Clear Storage.
Type 1234 in the box and tap YES.

HTC Trinity - HTC P3600 - Dopod D810 - Dopod CHT 9100 - Orange SPV M700 - Vodafone VPA compact GPS

Press and hold the Left SOFT KEY and Right SOFT KEY, and at the same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the bottom of your device. You will be presented with a menu saying 'press SEND to restore factory default, press END to exit', if you press SEND Your device will be set back to factory default settings.than Press "OK" to boot.

HTC Universal - T-Mobile MDA IV - Vodafone VDA IV - O2 XDA Exec - i-mate JasJar - QTek 9000 Orange - SPV M5000

Press the two soft keys together then pressing the reset button on the back of the unit. A confirmation screen should appear that reads, "Press 0 to reset to factory defaults or X to exit." Press ZERO to confirm the factory reset.

HTC Wallaby - O2 XDA - QTek 1010 - Siemens SX56 - T-Mobile MDA

Hold down the power button and press the reset button for about 6 seconds.

HTC Wizard - Cingular 8125 - i-mate K-JAM - T-Mobile MDA

Hold the Comm manager button and the Voice Command button, the press the reset button once. Hold the Comm Manager and Voice Command buttons until there is a screen asking you if you want to clear all data. To reset, press the green send key.

Mitac Mio 168

On the back of the unit, slide the battery switch to OFF. After about 1 minute, slide the battery switch back to the ON position. The unit will restart with the default settings.

Mitac Mio A201

Remove the battery cover. Use the stylus to slide the battery switch to OFF. After about 1 minute, slide the battery switch back to the ON position. Install the battery and immediately press the Record Button. The screen should show "cold boot" and "loading......" Replace the battery cover.

Mitac Mio A701

The device must be turned off. Press and hold the down volume button and the end button at the same time. Release both buttons when the device vibrates. The unit will turn on automatically and the Setup Wizard will be displayed. Follow the instructions to complete the hard reset process.

Palm Treo 700w

Hold the Power-End button and then press the reset button. When the confirmation screen asks you “Do you want to erase all data?”, you can release the Power-End button and press the up button on the directional pad to confirm the hard reset.

Toshiba e310 - e330 - e335 - e350 - e355 - e400 - e405 - e570 - e740 - e750 - e755 - e800 - e805

Device should be off. Hold the power button and press the reset button then release the power button. When the screen appears release the reset button.

Viewsonic V36 - V37

Device should be off. Slide the grey latch on the right hand side of the unit to open the battery compartment. Slide the short grey switch above the battery bay to the OFF position and remove the battery. After a brief few seconds, insert the battery. Then slide the short grey switch above the battery bay to the ON position. Now, replace the cover and slide the grey latch back to the lock position. Turn unit ON.

Xda Orbit

Press the two soft keys together then press the reset button on the side of the unit. A confirmation screen should appear that reads, "Press 0 to reset to factory defaults or X to exit." Press ZERO to confirm the factory reset.

FSC LOOX T810/T830

Slide off the battery cover from the Pocket PC. At the same time press and hold the End Call button and press the tip of the stylus pen into the soft reset opening. Release the end button as soon as a list of possible options is displayed on the screen. Select Skip if you would like to perform a normal cold start. To restore the Pocket PC to the factory defaults select Factory Defaults.

........And the N560

Incidentally, following from another thread, I've discovered that the N560 can be Soft Reset by holding in the power button for about 5 seconds (in fact this seems to turn it fully off, then turning it on again, it soft resets)
