PPCGeeks announce Windows7 details

According to the announcement made by PPCGeeks "All information detailed within may not be entirely official, although it is definitely the closest information we have heard on actually being real. Without wasting anymore time, lets jump into the nitty gritty."

The new UI will be shown at the Mobile World Congress 15/02/10.

The User Interface is based upon codename “METRO”. It will be very similar to the Zune HD User Interface.

Full Zune Integration.

Sync performed by Zune software - end of the line for WMDC.

App install only via Marketplace.

No Flash Support

No NetCF backward compatability.

No OEM interfaces allowed (SPB, Sense etc).

No Multi-task support.

So in effect no Zune phone as such - all Win7 phones will be Zune Phones. But the cost in individuality and configuration looks positively awful. All the advantages over an iPhone are being dropped in favour of a MS version iPhone using Zune instead of iTunes.

If this is all true this is not going to be good

Couldn't they have just saved a load of money and time and just licenced and ported the iPhone software ?

We'll have to see what transpires. If that lot is true (and let's face it no one knows yet) then big changes are ahead!

I'm not so sure the rumour can be true, some aspects but not all. I certainly wouldn't want to be stuck with the same UI or I would buy an iPhone.

It depends I guess on how good the UI is, but I'm not counting any imaginary chickens either way until we see the details publicly from MS!

Yep MS are playing this really close to their chests and rightly so I think - best way to achieve maximum impact

I really hope so - if those rumours are true - then MS have sold out to regain the consumer market - and WP7 will need to be bloody good at that to beat off the competition. It will need to be a quantum leap to move people from an iPhone to a zPhone.

Hey perhaps thats what they will call it? - In the US it will be a zeephone!
