Re: Is GPS a major deciding factor in device choice?
GPS was the major factor in why I upgraded to an Orbit 2. I was also fed up of carrying a phone, satnav and Sony Clie around, now I have it all-in-one.

Re: Is GPS a major deciding factor in device choice?
It was never a deciding factor for me before, but I recently passed my driving test and have to play cricket in the summer in all these weird locations so...next device, definitely needs GPS!

You are not wrong there! Finding the village cricket greens should be much easier for you.

Re: Is GPS a major deciding factor in device choice?
It never used to be for me, but now is a must even though I have a TTG 720 in the Car. The TT I don't always have with me the Orbit 2 I do, in fact personally I would rate it over a Camera these days and they are standard on nearly all Phones.

A friend of mine was listening to his ipod whilst on the train, and decided to fire up his XDA (can't remember which one) which had Tomtom on it, just to see if it would track the location of the train well. He started getting some funny looks, and after about 10 minutes a lady tapped him on the shoulder and asked him to turn the thingy off.
He has a route planned, and the TOMTOM lady kept saying "turn around when possible" to a packed train, and he coudln't hear it through his ipod earphones. Needless to say he was a little embarrassed.

Re: Is GPS a major deciding factor in device choice?
Well, it looks like i am going to buck the trend.
There is no current converged device that will do everything I want it to, and it is unlikely to ever happen.
My requirements are as follows:
Exchange Push Mail
Blackberry Connect Client
GPS (one the wife can use as well - she won't use a pocketpc - too complex and unstable for her)
Agenda, contacts etc
Password Safe
What I would really like, is an Iphone that does GPS and A2DP, with a blackberry client as well as the Push Exchange mail.
What I currently have is an Iphone, a blackberry pearl 8110, and a Tomtom Go 720.
This solves all my issues. Blackberry mail is purely for work, so I can leave it behind at the weekend and not worry. Iphone is my main phone, will have push exchange with 1.2 firmware.
Tomtom go 720 has the euro maps we require, and the wife can use it when I'm not around. This saves me getting a second device for her to use, as we only have one car. I'm not really looking to converge these at all. Once I get push Exchange on the Iphone I will be a happy man.

Re: Is GPS a major deciding factor in device choice?
I used to have a WM device that I used personally and a Blackberry for work. Now that they've fully enabled Exchange Activesync for MS Push I gave the Blackberry up and went completely WM. The only thing I need is for MS to change and allow 2 push accounts on one device and then I'd be in heaven.

Doesn't work very well with Lotus Notes though.....
We have Notes at work, and I have an exchange server for my "home office" for all my various different home emails addresses.
