Re: If you bought a new machine in the next few months?
I'm not sure about SE "Opening up the market" as everyone claims. SE have been making Symbian UIQ phones for many years now, but they are very much niche "flagship" phones. Most people have still never heard of Symbian, let alone UIQ - including most people with one of those phones! And, in terms of sales, they are a tiny fraction of the Nokia Symbian phones.
Whilst I think SE entering the market is great, I'm not sure it's going to completely revolutionise the WM marketplace in the way a lot of people are expecting. Most people still buy phones in the £150-£300 bracket - getting them free on £20/month contracts - so a nearly £500 phone is going to remain a niche product.

but... i think the "i want an iPhone but it's so expensive" market will walk towards the Sony Ericsson device and go "ooooh" (that's what my other half is doing!!)
and... if SE cover up WM6 with enough nice apps like the panel, then it should make the device a lot easier to use for new-comers to WM.

Re: If you bought a new machine in the next few months?
This would have been a tuff choice, if I was planning on getting a new device soon... I like the Diamond, but I do want a microSD slot and keyboard... The keyboard is the most important item for me as a frequently on the move IT Pro... I don't respond to text messages or email when using my spare device that does not have a keyboard... I just cannot fathom using the touch interface to reply with a lengthy note...
The Experia device gives me the oohs and aahs, I was looking for initially, but I am going to have to pass on the next four or five months of toy purchases... Maybe I'll luck out for Father's Day and get something geeky and electronic...
Edit: Got a look at the Raphael, good thing I am not buying soon, I would have an anxiety attack...

So that's my most likely next purchase, which validates my vote of not planning to change at the moment.

Clove seem to have all their pre-ordered devices at that price, the Diamond and the new E-Ten v900 are the same.

ahh - and here was me thinking that's about right, compared to the TyTn II when it was released!
Do we have any information on whether the networks will be offering the Xperia?

Has to be the Diamond for me. I'm sick of fat heavy devices.
