Ditto. I haven't used ICS because I've not been away from home for long periods. I can do what I need for a short time on my device, especially when on holiday with the other half, who'd rather I was spending time with him than on a computer. But if I were away for longer, or on a business trip, ICS could be very useful. So, it's not a waste of time, just a facility I haven't had occasion to use.

Re: How important or useful is the Internet Connection Sharing function
I would vote if I knew how to get the ****** thing to work!!!
Do you have to be connected by ActivSync to use it?
Sorry for the hijack....
Stefan.

Re: How important or useful is the Internet Connection Sharing function
No,
It disconnects ActiveSync. It just creates a network connection for the PC via the USB port the device is attached to.
Works well too. I had a PC on it for 4 hours yesterday and use it regularly....

Re: How important or useful is the Internet Connection Sharing function
Griph,
There's nothing to configure!
The application does it all. Connect the device up to the PC via ActiveSync/WMDC and then run the application on the device, select USB and press connect, that's it.
ActiveSync will disconnect, you may see the PC build a new network connection and then you're done.
No PC config, no device config.....

Griph is your touch pro running a stock or cooked rom? It may well be when you plug it Into the of the device offers you the choice of USB modem along with active sync and USB drive
You can also do this with your iPhone through an app called pdanet

Re: How important or useful is the Internet Connection Sharing function
Very annoying, but I thought I'd cracked a way to ditch my home broadband.
O2 web bolt on, use ICS to my laptop and there we go. However, I find that it simply won't run sites such as megavideo (okay, okay, I'm a massive Shield fan). Anybody else, found a work around setting?
So unless I want restricted web access, this save money scheme is a no goer...
Not ICS fault of course, but it does make me think what about O2's other bought dongles......
Grr, thought I'd come up with a nice money saver here....
Plus now, Skyfire is using US servers only, I can't get Kiss streaming on the Orbit either. Things are going backwards for me....

Re: How important or useful is the Internet Connection Sharing function
Although I have to admit I don't use a WM device right now when I did I used it to connect up my laptop whilst working from Coffee shops on a daily basis, saved having to buy another device/simm.
