How important or useful is the Internet Connection Sharing function - Page 3

I think it is a very useful app, even if I only thought it was necessary to have on my phone so that third party apps could tether a laptop to my carrier. I have bought the two best apps for this out there, WiFiRouter (good for any connection type to any other connection type internet sharing) & WalkingHotSpot (the EASYEST of the two to connect to by wifi only), and they both rock! For some reason I couldn't get the stock ICS to work right away with playing with it a few times for about 10 min. so I gave up on that and got these great apps.

After reading this thread I will try the "easy" usb hookup again and see if it works for me this time. If it did before I never would have bothered buying the other apps. Oh well, iTouch users can now come BEGGING me for a hotspot to get WiFi through my 3G to WiFi access point ability. Muwahaha! lol.

Fully mobile connected options like this are AWESOME, if only to know you have the potential to be able to use it one day when you might need it somewhere!

Most of the time i use internet connection sharing function on my mobile but nowdays i am quite busy thats why i am not able to use it..

I've just been using the wireless router and, on the right tarrif, it's an essential app.

I use it when on the go and away from a stable network and especially when out of the country. It is an essential feature of WM and would be a BIG dealbreaker if it were absent from future versions of Windows Mobile.

As an aside, I've never been able to get any of the "phone as wifi router" programs to work on my HTC Titan/Sprint Mogul. Any help with this would be definitely appreciated!

Have you tried using a proxy server to mask you computer/phone as a US proxy address?
FoxyProxy comes to mind if you use firefox.

arggh!
drivers have gone astray on my laptop - even after reinstalling activesync they aren't playing nicely. the touch pro works fine connected to partners laptop and work laptop, but not my laptop. I know the device is working correctly, so time to dig around the drivers for ICS USB connection again. Bluetooth works fine (very fast too).

Back to the discussion... ICS is fantastic for me. When we go away we get to watch iPlayer on the laptop when there is no WiFi connection and I have TMobile WnW Plus (the middle package) and tethering is included in my tariff. Excellent speed (comparable to my home broadband) and I would rather use internet connection sharing than removing my SIM and inserting a SIM card into a dongle.
