Electric Pocket's txtForward Sends Windows Mobile Text Messages to Email

Electric Pocket is announcing a new version of its txtForward software tool, enabling users of Windows Mobile smartphones to automatically forward their text messages to any email address they specify. A BlackBerry version of txtForward was released this past Summer.

There are many reasons why someone may wish to forward text messages to an email address. txtForward is useful when changing to a new phone, enabling the user to avoid missing messages during the transition. It is also beneficial for those who prefer to focus on email as a messaging channel, or those who simply want the security of having text messages backed up with email - either on their computer or an online email account such as Gmail.

Electric Pocket is the developer of the popular FlipSide MP3 player and Ringo ringtone manager, plus a wide variety of fun and useful applications for all major smartphone platforms.

I like this app, only problem for me is that it uses Electric Pockets server to send the email... I've submitted a feature request in the hope that a configurable SMTP server can be introduced, in which case I will buy it like a shot!!

Well, what can I say. I put in my feature request to Electric Pocket regarding introducing sending the email directly from the device rather than the Electric Pocket servers and lo and behold I got a response the very same day and on the next day, I received an email with a link to a new Beta of the txtForward application for me to try....

Now that is incredibly fast work. I've given the new Beta a try out and it's great. I'm finding that having my Texts forwarded to my email account to be very very useful. Especially as I sit on a lot of conference calls during the average day which means my phone is switched to mute via Phoneweaver during those meetings.

Yes, it's one of those aps that I didn't realise how useful it would be until I tried it out...

And now txtForward has the ability to select which email account you wish to send from if you have more than one configured on the device...An account picker will appear when you select the send from device option in the menu...
